We are seeking an experienced Sr VMware Migration Engineer with strong hands-on experience executing large-scale VMware infrastructure and storage migrations, specifically involving Dell EMC PowerMax storage platforms. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience performing datastore migrations, Storage vMotion waves, cluster migrations, and SAN datastore evacuations in enterprise environments.

This role requires deep expertise in VMware vSphere, ESXi host lifecycle management, VMware storage technologies, and Fibre Channel SAN environments. The engineer will work closely with infrastructure and storage teams to plan and execute non-disruptive storage migrations across VMware clusters, ensuring high availability and minimal service disruption.

Key Responsibilities :

VMware Infrastructure Management :

- Administer and maintain VMware vSphere environments including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, clusters, resource pools, and networking.
- Perform ESXi host lifecycle management, including patching, upgrades, and compatibility validation.
- Manage VMware HA, DRS, and cluster capacity planning.
- Support host evacuation workflows and cluster remediation activities.

Storage Migration & EMC PowerMax Integration :

- Execute large-scale VMware storage migrations from legacy storage platforms to Dell EMC PowerMax arrays.
- Perform datastore migrations using Storage vMotion and datastore evacuation techniques.
- Lead cluster-level storage transition activities, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with storage teams for SAN configuration, including zoning, LUN provisioning, masking, and connectivity validation.
- Validate multipathing configuration and storage connectivity across ESXi hosts.
- Monitor and optimize performance, latency, and pathing during migration activities.

VMware Storage Management :

- Manage VMware storage components including :
- VMFS datastores




- NFS datastores
- vVols
- Storage policies
- Configure and manage multipathing and path selection policies including :
- Round Robin
- Fixed
- Most Recently Used
- Manage SATP/PSP plugins and storage path optimization.

Automation & Migration Tools :

- Use PowerCLI automation to perform migration tasks, datastore operations, and cluster remediation.
- Utilize VMware tools including :
- VMware vCenter
- VMware Storage vMotion
- VMware CLI
- VMware PowerCLI
- VMware Converter / HCX (preferred)

Operational Support & Documentation :

- Provide Tier-3 support for VMware storage related issues.
- Develop migration runbooks and operational procedures.
- Participate in planned maintenance windows and migration waves during off-hours.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

- 8 years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere administration.
- Demonstrated experience executing large-scale VMware migrations involving hundreds of virtual machines.
- Proven experience performing Storage vMotion and datastore migrations at scale.
- Experience integrating VMware with Dell EMC PowerMax storage platforms.
- Strong knowledge of VMFS, multipathing, path selection policies, and datastore management.
- Hands-on experience with Fibre Channel SAN environments, including zoning, LUN masking, and path validation.
- Experience managing multi-cluster VMware environments in enterprise datacenters.
- Proficiency with PowerCLI scripting and VMware automation.

Preferred Qualifications :

- VMware certifications such as :
- VCP-DCV (VMware Certified Skilled Data Center Virtualization)
- VCAP-DCV Deploy / Design
- Experience with Dell EMC storage tools (Unisphere, Solutions Enabler).
- Experience in large enterprise datacenter environments with 500 VMs or multiple clusters.
- Experience with datacenter consolidation or storage refresh migration projects.
