- 1. Technical Knowledge in Fabrication Processes.

In-depth understanding of various fabrication techniques (e.g., welding, machining, laser cutting, CNC machining). Knowledge of material properties and their applications in manufacturing.

2. Project Management:

Ability to manage and coordinate multiple production projects from design to delivery.

Understanding of project timelines, budgeting, and resource allocation

3. Problem Solving and Troubleshooting

Analytical skills to identify and resolve production issues, from machine malfunctions to inefficiencies in processes

Ability to optimize workflows, reduce scrap, and improve overall productivity.

4. Lean Manufacturing and Process Optimization

Understanding of lean principles to eliminate waste, improve process efficiency, and optimize throughput.

Familiarity with Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other process improvement methodologies.

5. Quality Control and Assurance

Knowledge of quality control procedures, inspection techniques, and understanding of quality standards (e.g., ISO, AWS D1.1, ASTM).

6. Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental Regulations

Awareness of safety standards and regulations, including OSHA or local safety laws.

Implementing and ensuring safe working practices in fabrication shops.

7. Supply Chain and Inventory Management

Knowledge of material procurement, inventory control, and managing vendor relationships.

Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for inventory and order management.

8. Communication Skills:

Effective communication with colleagues, management, and clients is essential to ensure alignment of project goals and expectations.





Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

9. Teamwork and Collaboration

Strong interpersonal skills to work in a team environment, especially when collaborating with design engineers, machinists, and quality assurance teams.

Ability to coordinate efforts across multiple departments.

Fabrication environments often require quick adjustments to schedules or designs. Being flexible and adaptable to changes in requirements or challenges is important.

Main responsibility

- Process Planning & Optimization

Develop and improve fabrication processes (cutting, welding, machining, forming, etc.) to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Production Supervision

Oversee day-to-day operations on the shop floor, ensuring that production targets, timelines, and quality standards are met.
- Quality Assurance

Implement and monitor quality control measures to ensure that all fabricated parts meet design specifications and standards.
- Cost & Time Efficiency

Analyze production costs, improve workflow efficiency,



and help reduce production time and material usage.
- Equipment & Tooling Management

Ensure all machines, tools, and equipment are maintained, calibrated, and operated safely and efficiently.
- Health & Safety Compliance

Enforce safety procedures and ensure the fabrication process complies with industry health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Knowledge

- Fabrication Techniques

Welding (TIG, MIG, Arc), cutting (laser, plasma, waterjet), bending, forming, machining, sheet metal work
- Material Science

Properties of metals and alloys (steel, aluminum, etc.), heat treatment processes, corrosion resistance.
- Engineering Drawings & GD&T;

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, tolerances, symbols, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T;).
- Manufacturing Processes & Workflow

Understanding production planning, job routing, process flow diagrams and manufacturing cycle times.
- Quality Control & Inspection

Knowledge of inspection methods (CMM, gauges, calipers), surface finish standards, ISO/ASME/ASTM standards.
- Tooling & Fixtures

Understanding how to design/select jigs, fixtures, and tooling for various fabrication processes.
- Production Planning & Scheduling

Basics of SAP systems, Gantt charts, and efficient use of man power and machine time.
- Machine Operation Basics

Understanding how welding machines, lathes, mills, presses, and laser cutters operate and how to optimize their usage.
- Safety & Compliance

Knowledge of OSHA standards, PPE requirements, risk assessment, and environmental regulations.
