Job Title: Technical Product Manager
Location: Bangalore, India
Employment Type: Full-time
Relevant Experience: 7+ Years
About PENN Engineering:
PENN Engineering offers innovative fastening solutions for a variety of applications across industries like Automotive
Electronics, Consumer Electronics, Datacom and more.
Job Summary:
As PennEngineering accelerates its Speed of Now transformation, the Customer Experience (CX) team within this capability is responsible for the customer-facing digital products. PennEngineerings digital products encode decades of fastening expertise into self-service customer experiences.
The Technical Product
Manager owns what these products should do, for whom, and what done looks like across a growing portfolio that includes the rules-based engineering tools in market today and the AI-powered, agentic workflow experiences being defined for what comes next.
This is not a coordination role. It requires someone who can go deep enough into the product domain to write requirements that engineers can build without follow-up questions, and close enough to the customer to know whether what was built solves the problem. The best fit is someone who has lived on both sides of the customer engineering boundary an application engineer who moved into product or a product manager who genuinely understands how engineering decisions get made.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Definition & Requirements
Own product definition across the CX portfolio - what each product does, for whom, and what done looks like
Write acceptance criteria that leave no room for interpretation; maintain a backlog engineers can build from without guesswork Define product attribute models, compatibility rule structures, and configuration logic in enough detail for data architects and engineers to implement accurately
2. Roadmap & Prioritization and maintain a roadmap that aligns customer outcomes with engineering delivery capacity
Make prioritization trade-offs explicitly, with the data and customer evidence to support them
Sequence delivery so the team makes continuous, visible progress against the Speed of Now commitments
3. Customer Outcomes & Metrics
Track customer outcomes - workflow completion rates, recommendation accuracy, time-to-configuration - and drive the roadmap from evidence Define product metrics that connect engineering work to business impact Use usage data alongside qualitative customer feedback to make evidence-based decisions
4. Onboarding New Product Categories
Build and own the process for onboarding new product lines as the platform scales beyond its first categories Define repeatable workflows for category definition, data modelling, validation, and launch
Ensure new categories follow the existing platform patterns rather than creating one-off complexity
5. AI & Agentic Product Definition
Contribute to the Agentic product roadmap: define what AI-powered engineering guidance should do and how it maps to customer needs
Define product requirements for conversational interfaces, retrieval-augmented workflows, and tool-using agent behaviors
Partner with the AI Engineer and Data Architect on data and capability requirements for AI features
6. Stakeholder Engagement
Operate across distributed teams and time zones, bridging an India-based engineering team with global business stakeholders
Translate fluently between technical detail and business context for different audiences
Hold the line on requirements, scope,
and customer outcomes when there is delivery pressure to compromise
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelors degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
7+ years in product management, technical product ownership, application engineering, or solutions consulting
Demonstrable ability to write requirements accurate enough for engineering to build without follow-up questions
Experience with configurator-style, guided-selling, or rules-based product applications
Fluent in agile: backlog ownership, sprint planning, prioritization trade-offs
Strong analytical instincts: define metrics, read usage data, make evidence-based decisions
Comfortable coordinating across multiple parallel workstreams - engineering, data, design, AI/ML, DevOps - and translating fluently between technical detail and business context
Confident enough to hold the line on requirements, scope, and customer outcomes under delivery pressure;
precision in product definition is non-negotiable
Experience defining AI or agentic product capabilities is a plus - conversational interfaces, tool-using agents,
retrieval-augmented workflows
Preferred Qualifications
MBA or masters degree in engineering or related field
Application engineering, fastening, or manufacturing domain background
AI product experience in a production enterprise context
Key Competencies
Backlog quality: % of sprint stories with unambiguous, build-ready acceptance criteria
Roadmap clarity: % of roadmap items tied to measurable customer outcomes
Customer outcomes: workflow completion, recommendation accuracy, and adoption metrics for CX products
Time-to-onboard: time required to add a new product category to the CX portfolio
Speed of Now contribution: measurable role of CX products in PennEngineering's response, quote, and sample commitments
