Position: Operations/Production Head

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Operations/Production Head with a minimum of 15 years of experience in the machine manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of independently managing the complete operations of a manufacturing plant and experience overseeing production activities across multiple manufacturing units located at different sites. The role requires strong leadership, operational excellence, quality focus, and the ability to drive productivity while ensuring safety and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the end-to-end manufacturing operations of an entire production unit.

- Develop and execute production plans to meet customer delivery schedules, quality standards, and cost targets.

- Entrepreneurial mindset with proven ability to scale up the operations from a scratch .

- Skilled in supplier and vendor management dealing.

- Oversee production planning, machine shop, fabrication, assembly, testing, dispatch coordination, and maintenance functions.

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize manufacturing processes.

- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as OEE, productivity, rejection rates, downtime, on-time delivery, and capacity utilization.

- Prepare SOPs as required and ensure adherence to quality management systems, and statutory compliance requirements.

- Lead manpower planning, workforce utilization, and team development across all production departments.

- Coordinate closely with Planning, Quality, Maintenance, Purchase, Stores, Design,



and Supply Chain teams for seamless operations.

- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence initiatives.

- Prepare and manage departmental budgets while controlling manufacturing costs.

- Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance practices to maximize equipment availability.

- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods to maintain production continuity.

- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement corrective and preventive actions.

- Lead audits, customer inspections, and certification compliance activities.

- Review production reports and present operational performance to senior management.

Multi-Plant Operations

- Oversee and coordinate manufacturing operations across multiple plant locations.

- Standardize manufacturing processes, quality systems, and operational procedures across units.

- Support plant heads and production teams in achieving production targets and operational excellence.

- Monitor performance across plants and drive best-practice implementation.

- Lead capacity planning, production balancing, and resource optimization across locations.

- Travel regularly to different manufacturing units to review operations and support strategic initiatives.

Experience

- Minimum 15 years of experience in machine manufacturing,



industrial equipment, heavy engineering, or capital goods manufacturing.

- At least 5 years in a managerial role .

- Proven experience in independently managing complete plant operations.

- Demonstrated experience in handling production operations across multiple manufacturing plants or locations.

Educational Qualification

- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.

- MBA in Operations or Production Management is preferred.

Technical Skills

- Strong knowledge of machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, testing, and manufacturing processes.

- Expertise in production planning, capacity planning, scheduling, and resource optimization.

- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent).

- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.

- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and EHS compliance.
