The O&M; Engineer for Shimla Bulk Water Supply Scheme shall be responsible for the safe, productive and uninterrupted operation and maintenance of the complete bulk water supply system, including intake works, pumping stations, treatment facilities, reservoirs, transmission pipelines, valves, electrical and mechanical equipment, instrumentation and SCADA systems.

Key Responsibilities:

- Operate the scheme as per approved capacity, water-demand schedules, SOPs and quality standards.
- Monitor SCADA data, alarms, flow, pressure, water levels, power consumption and equipment performance.
- Ensure preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of pumps, motors, panels, transformers, DG sets, valves, pipelines, instruments and communication systems.
- Maintain uninterrupted water supply and promptly address leakage, pressure loss, equipment failure, power interruption and SCADA faults.
- Plan daily operations, duty rosters, shutdowns, maintenance schedules and deployment of manpower and machinery.
- Ensure water-quality sampling, testing, treatment and statutory compliance.
- Monitor electricity, chemicals, fuel,



spares and consumables and control operational costs and wastage.
- Maintain logbooks, registers, maintenance records, breakdown reports, SCADA data, inventory and monthly performance reports.
- Coordinate with the client, electricity department, laboratories, vendors, contractors and concerned authorities.
- Verify work carried out by operators, electricians, mechanics, fitters, technicians, store personnel and outsourced agencies.
- Ensure safety procedures, PPE compliance, emergency preparedness, housekeeping and protection of all assets.
- Investigate operational failures, identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive measures.
- Prepare estimates, material requirements, technical reports, improvement proposals and annual maintenance plans.
- Ensure timely compliance with instructions, inspections, audits, contractual obligations and reporting requirements.
- Remain available for emergency operations, breakdowns and restoration of water supply.
