About the Role

We are seeking an OLS Software Test Engineer to design, develop, and execute test strategies for Leading OEM's Optical Line System lineside software.

The Test

Engineer will own feature and regression test coverage for OLS software releases, working closely with developers and architects to ensure product quality. Candidates with hands-on optical lab experience and a strong test automation background are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop comprehensive test plans and test cases for OLS lineside software features.

- Execute functional, integration, regression, and performance test cycles.

- Design and implement automated test frameworks for OLS software validation.

- Collaborate with developers to understand requirements and design testable software.

- Set up and manage optical lab environments for hardware-in-the-loop testing.

- Develop scripts for optical performance and fault management scenario validation.

- Track, report, and manage defects using issue tracking tools (JIRA or similar).

- Contribute to test automation infrastructure and CI/CD integration.

- Perform root cause analysis on defects and validate fixes.

- Participate in Agile sprint ceremonies and contribute to test estimation and planning.

Technical Requirements

- Sound knowledge of optical networking: DWDM, ROADM, amplifiers, OTDR, DGE, Raman.

- Hands-on experience in testing optical or embedded telecom software.





- Proficient in test automation using Python, Robot Framework, or similar tools.

- Experience with NETCONF/YANG, SNMP, or CLI-based interface testing.

- Familiarity with C++ for code-level unit test understanding and collaboration.

- Experience with lab equipment: optical spectrum analyzers, BERT testers, VOAs, OTDRs.

- Robust knowledge of test methodologies: black-box, white-box, exploratory, regression.

- Experience with CI/CD integration and automated test pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI).

- Proficiency in defect management tools (JIRA, Bugzilla) and test management tools (Zephyr, TestRail).

- Familiarity with Agile Scrum test practices.

- Ability to work independently and drive test execution with minimal supervision.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

- ISTQB certification or equivalent test engineering certification.

- Prior Nokia OLS or optical equipment test experience.

- Experience with AI/ML-driven test optimization or anomaly detection in optical networks.

- Knowledge of telecom standards and test specifications (ITU-T, Telcordia GR).

- Experience with performance benchmarking and capacity testing of optical line systems.
