MicroStrategy (MSTR) Developer / Tech Lead (5+ Years)

Role Overview

We are seeking an expert, highly strategic MicroStrategy (MSTR) Developer with 5+ years of progressive business intelligence and data visualization experience to join our enterprise analytics division in Oman.

The successful candidate will act as the core architect and technical anchor for our enterprise reporting platforms. This role requires extensive expertise in advanced MicroStrategy platform architecture, strong programming capabilities using SQL and the ability to integrate and query data across Hadoop/Big Data/ETL ecosystems. Experience inside the Telecom domain and advanced optimization skills using Teradata SQLwill be treated as key competitive advantages.

Mandatory Requirement: This position is based in Oman. Candidates must be fully willing to relocate to Oman for a long-term contract.

Key Responsibilities

1. BI Architecture & Dashboard Design

- Architect, design, and manage enterprise-level MicroStrategy (MSTR) environments, including schema objects (attributes, facts, hierarchies) and public objects (metrics, prompts, filters, custom groups).
- Build advanced, high-performance executive Dossiers, up-to-date RSD (Report Services Documents), and interactive HyperIntelligence cards.
- Lead governance across the MSTR metadata layer, ensuring data security, precise user privileges, and reusable object design patterns.

1. Big Data & Python Integration





- Integrate MicroStrategy directly with Hadoop Big Data platforms (HDFS, Hive, Impala), optimizing configuration environments like the MicroStrategy Hadoop Gateway for lightning-fast in-memory processing.

1. VLDB & Performance Optimization

- Perform deep VLDB (Very Large Database) properties tuning within MicroStrategy to optimize SQL generation targeting underlying platforms.
- Partner with DBAs to tune analytical queries targeting Teradata and Hadoop clusters by analyzing execution plans (Explain Plans) and implementing partition mapping, aggregate join indexing, or multi-pass SQL optimization.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Requirements

- MicroStrategy Mastery: 5+ years of dedicated development experience across MicroStrategy Web, Workstation, Developer, and Intelligence Server administration.
- Big Data Ecosystem: Solid working experience accessing, structuring, and loading large datasets from Hadoop clusters (Hive/Impala).
- Relational Databases: Exceptional SQL rewriting skills. Hands-on tuning experience with Teradata (utilizing Primary Indexes, Partitioned Primary Indexes, and volatile tables) is an added advantage.

Experience & Education
- Total Experience: Strictly 5+ years in Business Intelligence, Analytics, or Data Engineering tracks.
- Domain Expertise: Experience in the Telecom Domain (handling large data telemetry like Call Detail Records (CDRs), subscriber retention modeling, churn metrics, or interconnect billing insights) is highly preferred / good to have.
- Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information
