Work with the international engineering and sales team on customer prospects, to understand and assess customer requirements, prepare Engineering Quotation & Sizing for Custom Engineered products and Industrial Explosion Protection products, and address technical questions that arise throughout the engineering and sales process.
The Mechanical
Engineer should be a confident written and verbal communicator as it relates to the CEP & IEP product offering and associated technical matters. In addition, the Mechanical Engineer-CEP&IEP; shall provide accurate and safe recommendations following Company and International Standards.
Role & responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
IEP
- Able to read and interpret CAD/PDF versions of Industrial equipment drawings.
- Complete and create excel spread sheets for IEP using formula advised by affiliate engineering team.
- Complete sizing calculations for Suppression protection systems by interpreting end customer equipment volumes and shapes from supplied drawings and sketches following direction from affiliate engineering team.
- Complete sizing calculations for vent panel protection systems following both NFPA 68 & EN Standards using available Excel spread sheets. Provide summary of calculations made that includes assumptions, L/D value used (where applicable), and flame ball dimensions.
- Read, understand and interpret the protection standards/guidelines of NFPA, EN and VDI to update the sizing calculations, as and when revised guidelines are released
- Maintain key performance metrics related to all the support activities provided for IEP.
- Report generation using MS word and ppt as well as departmental monthly activity reports.
- Conduct data mining in support of IEP Business unit as requested by Supervisor. Prepare reports as directed.
- Create and check the manufacturing drawings of Vent panels, as directed by Supervisor.
- Support Live Chat customer contact when requested by Supervisor.
CEP
- Creating sales drawings, approval drawings, manufacturing drawings & 3D models, Step files, Basic Stress analysis for CEP division whenever requested, as directed by supervisor.
- Respond to enquiries from representatives, distributors and customers and generate quotations (& sales drawings with each enquiry) within company specified time frame
- Conceptual design, cost and lead time estimation of assemblies and standard product to meet customer specifications maximizing use of Company standard product elements.
- Report generation using MS word and ppt, as well as departmental monthly activity reports.
- Conduct data mining in support of CEP Business units as requested by Supervisor. Prepare reports as directed.

Preferred candidate profile
Education: A bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering)
Experience: 2 + years of experience in engineering and / or sales support of a technical product or a similar combination of education and experience in a mechanical manufacturing/engineering setting.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Inventor 3 D Modelling Essential
- Knowledge of MS Office Essential
- AutoCAD in 2-D – Essential
- Basic Knowledge about Vault/any PDM software is preferable
- High level of computer literacy
- Familiarity with geometric tolerancing, dimensioning and drawing layout
- Good analytical and design skills
- Excellent English, oral and written communication
- Self-starter, with the ability to work on own initiative
- Customer orientated (internal customers and external customers)
- Able to work to deadlines
- Able to support internal customers who are in Europe and North America
- Willing to work on Flexi timings
- Good Planning and Organizing skills
- Target Oriented
- Ability to work with little guidance
