Job Summary The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing mechanical solutions for solar power projects, including module mounting structures, support systems, and related components. The role involves preparing engineering drawings, structural calculations, material estimation, and providing technical support to the project execution team to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective installations.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Engineering

- Design solar module mounting structures for rooftop and ground-mounted solar projects.
- Prepare 2D and 3D mechanical drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.
- Perform structural calculations and load analysis considering wind load, dead load, and site conditions.
- Optimize designs for strength, cost-effectiveness, and ease of installation.
- Prepare fabrication drawings and assembly drawings for manufacturing.

Technical Documentation

- Prepare Bills of Materials (BOM) and Bills of Quantities (BOQ).
- Develop engineering calculations, design reports, and technical specifications.
- Maintain revision control for engineering drawings and documents.
- Prepare installation manuals and technical guidelines for site teams.

Project Support

- Coordinate with Electrical Engineers, Civil Engineers, and Project Engineers during project planning and execution.
- Provide technical clarification to procurement, fabrication, and installation teams.




- Visit project sites when required for design verification and issue resolution.
- Assist in commissioning and project handover.

Quality & Compliance

- Ensure designs comply with relevant IS standards, structural codes, and company quality standards.
- Review fabricated components for dimensional accuracy and quality.
- Support quality inspections and recommend design improvements.

Research & Development

- Develop innovative mounting solutions for different roof types and terrains.
- Evaluate recent materials and technologies to improve product performance and reduce costs.
- Continuously improve existing designs based on field feedback.

Required Qualifications

- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- 2–5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the solar, structural, or fabrication industry.
- Fresh graduates with exceptional CAD and design skills may also be considered.

Required Skills

- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or similar CAD software.
- Knowledge of sheet metal design, fabrication processes, and structural engineering principles.
- Understanding of wind load and structural calculations.
- BOM and BOQ preparation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
