Role Description The Lymphedema Therapist is a full-time, on-site role based at Apollo Athenaa Women’s Cancer Centres in Defence Colony. The therapist will assess patients for lymphedema risk and symptoms, develop individualized treatment plans, and deliver appropriate therapies such as manual lymphatic drainage, compression bandaging, exercise programs, and skin care education. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting clinical evaluations, documenting patient progress, collaborating with oncologists, surgeons, physiotherapists, and nursing staff, and adjusting treatment plans based on patient response.

The therapist will provide education to patients and caregivers on self-management techniques, prevention strategies, and lifestyle modifications to minimize swelling,



discomfort, and infection risk. Additional duties may include participating in multidisciplinary case discussions, contributing to patient education materials, and supporting quality improvement initiatives related to survivorship and rehabilitation.

Qualifications

Clinical expertise in lymphedema management, including assessment, manual lymphatic drainage, compression therapy, and therapeutic exercise.

Background in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, or related rehabilitation field, with relevant certification or training in lymphedema therapy.

Strong patient education and counseling skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and support patients and caregivers emotionally.

Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary oncology team and coordinate care plans with physicians and other therapists.

Competence in clinical documentation, use of medical records systems, and adherence to safety, infection control, and ethical care standards.

Good physical stamina and manual skills to perform hands-on therapies safely and effectively.

Commitment to gender-neutral, inclusive, and non-discriminatory patient care, respecting diverse backgrounds and individual needs.

Prior experience in oncology or women’s health rehabilitation is an advantage; willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training.
