Hirely is recruiting on behalf of our hiring partners for remote LLM Java Developer opportunities focused on building, evaluating, and improving next-generation AI systems.

This role combines software engineering with AI development, giving experienced Java developers the opportunity to contribute to Large Language Models (LLMs), AI-powered applications, backend services, model evaluation, and AI training workflows. Depending on the hiring partner and project, you may work on backend engineering, AI model evaluation, prompt engineering, data generation, repository validation, AI-assisted coding, or software quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality Java applications, backend services, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Build scalable, secure, and maintainable software using modern Java development best practices.
- Review, analyze, and improve Java codebases for performance, reliability, scalability, and code quality.
- Evaluate AI-generated Java code for correctness, efficiency, security, readability, and maintainability.
- Contribute to AI model evaluation, software benchmarking, repository validation, code review, and technical reasoning projects.
- Create, review, and improve programming solutions, technical explanations, and software documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering, AI, and research teams to improve software quality and AI model performance.
- Follow software engineering best practices, version control workflows, testing standards, and coding guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Professional experience in Java Software Development, Backend Engineering, Full-Stack Development, or Software Engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Java, object-oriented programming, data structures,



algorithms, concurrency, multithreading, collections, and modern Java frameworks.
- Experience building REST APIs, backend services, microservices, enterprise applications, or distributed systems.
- Familiarity with Git, software testing, debugging, CI/CD workflows, databases, and software architecture principles.
- Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Large Language Models (LLMs), AI-assisted coding, Machine Learning, Prompt Engineering, AI Evaluation, or Generative AI is beneficial.
- Strong analytical thinking, debugging skills, technical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written English communication skills for technical documentation and code review.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while consistently delivering high-quality work.
