Job Summary

Role Overview: Axis Electrical Components Pvt. Ltd. a leading manufacturer of electrical components and systems is expanding into solar BOS (Balance of System) products. We are seeking a hands-on engineer to design, prototype, and validate DC String Combiner Boxes for utility-scale and commercial PV installations (1000 V and 1500 V systems).

This is a leadership-track role involving full product lifecycle: concept design prototype testing production field feedback.

Qualifications

- Education: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, Power, or Electronics Engineering.

- Experience: 5-10 years in PV system design, LV switchgear, or product development of DC side components.

- Department: RD / Product Development (Renewable Energy Division)

- Location: Kandivali, Mumbai

- Preferred: Experience in developing solar junction boxes or DC distribution boards.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Product Design Specification Develop detailed technical specifications for 1000 V and 1500 V DC Combiner Boxes. Create schematic diagrams, wiring layouts, and component selection per IEC 61439-2, IEC 60269-6, and IEC 61643-31.

Finalize

BoM including enclosure, fuses, SPDs, isolators, monitoring modules, terminals, glands, and busbars.

- Prototyping Testing Oversee prototype builds with Axis factory teams and suppliers.

Conduct validation tests: IP65/IP66 ingress, temperature rise, dielectric, and mechanical integrity.



Liaise with third-party test labs for IEC certification and type testing.

- Manufacturing DfM Work with production to optimize manufacturability, wiring layouts, assembly jigs, and QA processes. Support sourcing team in vendor evaluation for critical components.

- Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate with Axis teams in design, supply chain, and marketing to align the combiner box with Axis solar BOS strategy. Interface with EPCs and customers to incorporate field feedback into design upgrades.

- Documentation Compliance Prepare drawings (AutoCAD/Creo), test reports, data sheets, and OM manuals. Ensure compliance with MNRE, IEC, and utility specifications.

Must-have skills

- Knowledge of PV string design and current calculations.

- Hands-on experience with fuses, SPDs, disconnect switches, and IP-rated enclosures.

- Familiarity with IEC 61439/60269/61643, UL 1741, and IS standards.

- CAD drawing and BoM preparation skills.

- Proficiency with component sourcing and vendor interaction.
