Job Summary:

The Landscaping Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all landscaping, gardening, and groundskeeping activities across the institution's campus. The role includes supervising ground staff and gardeners, maintaining lawns, gardens, plantations, and green spaces, ensuring the upkeep of horticultural equipment and tools, and ensuring that the campus grounds are safe, clean, and aesthetically maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities

- Landscaping & Ground Maintenance
- Plan, organize, and supervise day-to-day landscaping and gardening activities across the campus.
- Ensure regular maintenance of lawns, hedges, flower beds, plantations, and green spaces.
- Develop and implement seasonal planting, pruning, watering, and fertilization schedules.
- Monitor plant health and coordinate timely action for pest control, disease management, and soil treatment.
- Ensure aesthetic upkeep of the campus in line with institutional standards and the events calendar.
- Team & Workforce Supervision
- Supervise, train, and allocate daily tasks to gardeners, groundskeepers, and landscaping staff.
- Monitor staff attendance, performance, and productivity, and provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure adherence to safety practices and proper use of tools and machinery by ground staff.
- Coordinate manpower planning during peak seasons, events, or special landscaping projects.
- Project & Event Management
- Plan and execute landscaping projects including new plantations, garden redesigns, and lawn renovations.
- Coordinate with vendors, nurseries, and contractors for procurement of plants, saplings, and landscaping materials.
- Support preparation of campus grounds for institutional events, functions, and annual programmes.
- Maintain records of ongoing and completed landscaping projects, budgets, and timelines.




- Equipment & Inventory Management
- Ensure proper maintenance, storage, and safe usage of gardening tools, machinery, and irrigation systems.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and recommend repairs, servicing, or replacements.
- Maintain inventory records of plants, seeds, fertilizers, tools, and other landscaping supplies.
- Ensure efficient use of water resources through proper irrigation planning and monitoring.

5. Administration & Compliance

- Maintain records of landscaping activities, staff schedules, and maintenance reports.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, environmental guidelines, and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with facilities, administration, and other departments for overall campus upkeep.
- Promote sustainable and eco-friendly landscaping practices across the campus.
- Perform other responsibilities assigned by the reporting authority.

Educational Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Landscape Design, or a related field from a recognized Statutory University;

Professional Experience

- Minimum 5 years of experience in landscaping, gardening, or grounds management, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in institutional, campus, or large-scale landscaping projects is desirable.

Skills and Competencies

- Strong technical knowledge of horticulture, plant care, and landscape design principles.
- Valuable understanding of irrigation systems, soil management, and pest/disease control.
- Ability to plan, supervise, and coordinate the work of ground staff and gardeners.
- Good organizational and project management skills.
- Knowledge of safety standards and proper handling of gardening tools and machinery.
- Ability to maintain records, budgets, and inventory reports.
- Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer proficiency (MS Office) for maintaining reports and records.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing campus environment.
