Job Title: Lab Technician

Department: Laboratory Services

Reporting To: Laboratory Manager / Pathologist

Job Summary The Lab Technician performs laboratory investigations accurately and efficiently, maintains laboratory equipment, ensures quality control, and complies with NABH standards, biosafety guidelines, and hospital protocols.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform routine and specialized laboratory investigations in:
- Hematology
- Biochemistry
- Clinical Pathology
- Microbiology
- Immunology (where applicable)
- Operate laboratory analyzers and diagnostic equipment.
- Prepare reagents and calibration materials.
- Perform daily Internal Quality Control (IQC) and assist in External Quality Assurance (EQAS) activities.
- Validate and report laboratory results within turnaround time (TAT).
- Maintain laboratory records and documentation.
- Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and coordinate preventive maintenance.
- Ensure proper storage of reagents and consumables.
- Follow biosafety, infection control, and biomedical waste management protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory.
- Assist the Pathologist in special investigations.




- Monitor inventory and raise purchase requisitions for laboratory consumables.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient reports.
- Participate in NABH quality improvement programs, audits, and training sessions.
- Coordinate with clinicians and nursing departments regarding urgent reports and critical values.

Qualification
- DMLT / BMLT / B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology
- Registration with the appropriate council (if applicable).

Experience
- 2–5 years in a multi-specialty hospital or diagnostic laboratory.
- Experience in NABH-accredited hospitals is preferred.
