Role & responsibilities

Feedstock Characterization

- Collect, prepare, and analyze incoming plastic waste samples.
- Conduct testing for polymer composition, moisture, ash, density, chlorine, sulfur, and contaminants.
- Record and report feedstock quality data accurately.

Pyrolysis Oil Characterization

- Perform routine analysis of pyrolysis oil and intermediate streams.

- Conduct tests including
- Density, viscosity, flash point, and calorific value

- Distillation analysis
- Sulfur, chlorine, and moisture determination
- Hydrocarbon composition using chromatographic techniques
- Assist in preparation of Certificates of Analysis (CoA).

Char Characterization

- Analyze char samples for ash, fixed carbon, volatile matter, moisture, and elemental composition.
- Conduct environmental compliance and leachability tests as required.
- Maintain records of by-product quality and characterization data.

Laboratory Operations

- Prepare samples, reagents, standards, and calibration materials.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as needed.
- Ensure proper sample handling, labeling, storage, and disposal.




- Follow laboratory SOPs, safety procedures, and quality management requirements.

Data Management & Reporting

- Record test results in laboratory information systems and logbooks.
- Support preparation of quality reports and trend analyses.
- Notify supervisors of any off-specification results or abnormal findings.

Qualifications

- Diploma/B.Sc. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Technology, Petrochemicals, or related discipline.

Experience

- 2-5 years of laboratory experience in petrochemical, refinery, polymer, recycling, or environmental testing laboratories.
- Experience with analytical instruments and ASTM testing methods preferred.

Technical Skills

- Sample preparation and analytical testing.
- Basic operation of chromatographic and spectroscopic instruments.
- Understanding of laboratory safety and quality procedures.
- Data recording, reporting, and laboratory documentation.
