Role: Technical Lead - Backend JAVA Positions: 1 Experience: 9 to 12 years Location(s): Mumbai (WFO) Salary: 65–80 LPA (includes variable based on fitment) Note: Looking for engineers with robust expertise in Distributed Systems, System Design, Kafka, Microservices, and AWS/GCP. This is a hands-on Tech Lead role in an AI-native InsurTech startup.

Key Skills: Java, Distributed Systems, System Design, Event-Driven Architecture/Kafka, Microservices, Cloud (AWS/GCP) Core Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Architect and build microservices, APIs, and event-driven/asynchronous workflows for enterprise applications.
- Build and optimize backend platforms that seamlessly integrate with AI agents, automation workflows, and external enterprise systems.
- Own the technical architecture of backend services, ensuring scalability, security, reliability, observability, and performance.
- Lead the design and implementation of distributed systems by driving architectural decisions, design reviews, and engineering best practices.
- Lead backend engineers through code reviews, technical discussions,



and hands-on problem solving while fostering engineering excellence.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, AI/ML engineers, domain experts, DevOps teams, and customers to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Drive engineering quality through secure coding practices, automated testing, performance optimization, and production readiness.
- Identify and resolve technical risks, bottlenecks, and architectural challenges throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Contribute to technology roadmap planning, technical hiring, and continuous improvement of engineering processes and development standards.

Core Skills

- Java Spring (Boot, Cloud, Data JPA) and microservices architecture • PostgreSQL, Apache Kafka, and polyglot persistence • Docker, Kubernetes, and API-first design • Security (JWT, OAuth2), testing (JUnit 5, Mockito, TestContainers) • Observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, distributed tracing) Preferred:
- Neo4j, Elasticsearch, event sourcing, CQRS, and Domain-Driven Design • Business process engines, workflow orchestration • Insurance domain knowledge (policies, claims, underwriting) • GitOps and CI/CD pipeline experience
