Java Backend Developer with JavaScript, jQuery & AI-Assisted Programming Exposure

Role Summary

We are looking for a strong Java Backend Developer with hands-on JavaScript and jQuery experience to design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise applications. The role requires solid backend engineering capability, practical JavaScript exposure, API development experience, clean coding practices, and the ability to collaborate across frontend, backend, QA, DevOps, and business teams. Exposure to AI-assisted programming tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Azure AI, or similar platforms is preferred; at least one project using AI-assisted development is preferred but not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performing Java backend services.
- Build and enhance RESTful APIs and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and related backend frameworks.
- Work with JavaScript for application integration, frontend interaction, client-side logic, validation, and UI-related enhancements as required by the project.
- Collaborate with frontend teams using modern JavaScript and jQuery frameworks or libraries such as React, Angular, Node.js, or similar technologies, depending on project needs.
- Participate in requirement analysis, solution design, technical discussions, estimations, code reviews, and sprint ceremonies.
- Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and well-documented code following SOLID principles and industry best practices.
- Integrate applications with databases, message queues, external APIs, authentication services, and cloud or DevOps pipelines.
- Troubleshoot production issues, analyze logs, resolve defects, improve performance,



and contribute to application stability.
- Use AI-assisted programming tools responsibly for code generation, refactoring, debugging, unit-test creation, documentation, and productivity improvement where applicable.
- Ensure generated or AI-assisted code is reviewed, validated, secured, tested, and aligned with project coding standards before delivery.

Mandatory Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in Core Java, Java 8+, OOP concepts, collections, exception handling, multithreading, and design patterns.
- Experience in Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data/JPA, Hibernate, REST API development, and microservices architecture.
- Good understanding of API security, authentication, authorization, JWT/OAuth concepts, and secure coding practices.
- Experience with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server; understanding of query optimization is desirable.
- Hands-on experience with build tools such as Maven or Gradle and version control using Git.
- Strong practical knowledge of JavaScript, ES6+, asynchronous programming, promises, error handling, JSON, browser debugging, and DOM concepts.
- Experience integrating JavaScript-based frontend components with backend APIs.
- Exposure to React, Angular, Vue, Node.js, or similar JavaScript frameworks/libraries is preferred based on project requirement.
- Ability to debug cross-layer issues involving UI, API, browser console, network calls, and backend services.




- Understanding of frontend build tools, package management, and API contract alignment will be an added advantage.

AI-Assisted Programming - Preferred Exposure
- Awareness or practical usage of AI-assisted programming tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Azure AI, Cursor, CodeWhisperer, or equivalent tools.
- Preferred but not mandatory: contribution to at least one project where AI-assisted programming was used for coding, debugging, documentation, test-case generation, or refactoring.
- Ability to validate AI-generated suggestions for correctness, maintainability, security, licensing, and project coding standards.
- Responsible use of AI tools while protecting confidential client, project, and organizational information.

Good-to-Have Skills
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, SonarQube, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
- Understanding of event-driven architecture, Kafka, RabbitMQ, caching, and distributed systems concepts.
- Experience with unit testing and mocking frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, Jest, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum delivery, estimation, story grooming, sprint planning, and defect triage.

Education & Professional Attributes
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong analytical thinking, debugging capability, ownership mindset, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valuable written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with distributed teams and stakeholders.
- Positive attitude toward continuous learning, modern engineering practices, and responsible use of productivity-enhancing tools.
