Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Informix Database Administrator (DBA) with hands-on expertise in IBM Informix and working knowledge of Amazon Redshift. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration, performance tuning, security, backup, recovery, migration, and ongoing support of enterprise database environments. Experience in managing mission-critical production databases and supporting data warehouse platforms is essential.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IBM Informix database servers.
- Monitor database health, performance, and availability.
- Perform database performance tuning and query optimization.
- Manage database backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high availability.
- Troubleshoot production issues and provide root cause analysis.
- Plan and execute database patching and upgrades.
- Configure and manage replication technologies (HDR, RSS, Enterprise Replication).
- Implement database security, user management, and access controls.
- Support database migrations and modernization initiatives.
- Work with application, infrastructure, and DevOps teams during deployments.
- Monitor storage utilization and capacity planning.
- Automate routine DBA tasks using shell scripting or Python.
- Maintain operational documentation and standard operating procedures.

Amazon Redshift Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Amazon Redshift clusters.
- Optimize Redshift performance using distribution keys, sort keys, compression, and workload management.
- Design and optimize ETL/ELT processes.
- Monitor query performance and resolve bottlenecks.
- Support data warehouse operations and reporting workloads.
- Work with AWS services such as S3, IAM, CloudWatch, Lambda, Glue, and Data Migration Service (DMS).
- Perform Redshift maintenance activities including VACUUM, ANALYZE, and workload optimization.





Required Skills

IBM Informix

- Strong experience administering IBM Informix databases.
- Performance tuning and SQL optimization.
- Backup and recovery strategies.
- High Availability Disaster Recovery (HDR).
- Enterprise Replication.
- Database migration and upgrades.
- Database security and auditing.
- Linux/Unix administration.

Amazon Redshift
- Experience managing Amazon Redshift clusters.
- Query optimization and workload management.
- Data warehouse design concepts.
- ETL/ELT implementation.
- Integration with AWS ecosystem.
- Performance monitoring and troubleshooting.

Additional Technical Skills
- SQL and advanced query tuning.
- Shell scripting (Bash/Korn Shell).
- Python scripting is preferred.
- Linux administration.
- Git/version control.
- Monitoring tools.
- Incident and problem management.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- IBM Informix certification (preferred).
- AWS Certified Database – Specialty or AWS Solutions Architect certification (preferred).
- Experience with cloud database migration projects.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL or other relational databases is an added advantage.
