Location: Amrita Hospital, Kochi, Kerala

1. Position Overview

The Linux System Engineer is responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting the organizations Linux-based infrastructure. The role ensures high availability, performance, and security of servers, applications, and related systems. The engineer supports deployments, troubleshooting, automation, monitoring, and coordination with development, DB, and network teams to ensure smooth IT operations.

2. Key Responsibilities

Server & System Administration

- Manage and maintain Linux servers (RHEL/CentOS/Rocky/Ubuntu).
- Perform updates, package installation, log analysis, user management, and service configuration.
- Monitor servers using Zabbix and respond to alerts promptly.

Application Deployment & Support

- Deploy and maintain applications on WildFly/JBoss servers.
- Execute DB scripts safely and coordinate with the DB team where necessary.
- Support front-end and back-end deployment workflows.

Automation & DevOps Support

- Configure and manage Docker containers.
- Support Jenkins jobs build, deploy, troubleshoot.
- Create/modify basic Ansible playbooks and automation scripts.

Troubleshooting & Incident Handling

- Handle system-related tickets, perform root-cause analysis, and ensure timely closure.
- Troubleshoot application, server, network, and configuration issues.
- Support production issues and escalate as needed.

Infrastructure & Virtualization





- Install and configure virtual machines using VMware or equivalent platforms.
- Support load balancing using HAProxy.
- Participate in capacity planning and performance optimization.

Documentation & Compliance

- Maintain system documentation, deployment logs, and SOPs.
- Ensure compliance with IT policies, security guidelines, and audit requirements.
- Support team reporting and periodic documentation updates.

3. Required Competencies

Technical Competencies

- Robust understanding of Linux operating systems and fundamentals.
- Experience with WildFly/JBoss application deployment.
- Knowledge of Shell scripting, Docker, Jenkins, and Ansible.
- Basic SQL and DB script execution skills.
- Understanding of networking (SSH, firewall, DNS, IP).
- Knowledge of virtualization platforms (VMware).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Zabbix.

4. Qualifications & Experience

- Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, MCA, or a related field OR equivalent hands-on experience in Linux system administration.
- Experience:

1 to 3 years of experience in Linux-based infrastructure is preferred.
