Minimum Experience: 3 - 8 yrs About the Role
We are building the next-generation Global Satellite Constellation for highly precise and secure Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) using Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. We are seeking a motivated Ground Checkout and Testing Lead.
The Spacecraft Test
Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing testing activities for spacecraft payloads and systems throughout the development lifecycle. The role will support electrical and mechanical integration for test readiness, develop test methodologies and support equipment, analyse test results, troubleshoot anomalies, and ensure all hardware is qualified and accepted in accordance with mission requirements and applicable space industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Develop test plans, test procedures, test matrices, acceptance criteria, and test documentation for payload, subsystem, and spacecraft-level testing.
Plan, coordinate, execute, and document functional, environmental, qualification, acceptance, and end-to-end system testing.
Define subsystem electrical and mechanical interfaces required for successful integration and testing.
Conduct Factory Acceptance Trials (FAT), verification, and electrical interface testing.
Define and implement grounding, bonding, ESD protection, EMI/EMC, and electrical safety requirements for test activities.
Support subsystem and payload mechanical integration, including package assembly, payload panel integration, and mechanical interface verification.
Support payload package layout generation, fixture design, Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE), and Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE)
development required for testing.
Coordinate structural, thermal, and mechanical implementation aspects necessary to support qualification and environmental testing.
Configure test setups, instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and support equipment required for test execution.
Perform hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and root cause analysis for test failures and anomalies.
Prepare test reports, maintain test records, and ensure traceability of all verification activities.
Coordinate with design, systems, manufacturing, quality, spacecraft bus, and mission teams to ensure timely execution of the overall test programme.
Support spacecraft-level testing, launch campaign testing, and post-integration verification activities as required.
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Avionics, or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum 3-8 years of experience in testing, integration, or development of spacecraft, aerospace, defence, or high-reliability electronic systems.
Hands-on experience planning and executing functional, environmental, qualification, and acceptance testing of complex electro-mechanical systems. Along with a positive understanding of subsystem electrical and mechanical interfaces, harnessing, payload integration, and test support activities.
Experience with EGSE, MGSE, test instrumentation,
data acquisition systems, and laboratory test setups.
Knowledge of grounding, EMI/EMC, ESD, thermal implementation, and structural considerations for aerospace hardware testing.
Experience working with embedded hardware interfaces and communication protocols such as SPI, UART, I²C, USB, Ethernet, CAN, and SpaceWire.
Familiarity with Linux-based systems and Python for engineering automation, scripting, or test support.
Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams developing highly integrated hardware systems. Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prepare and review test plans, procedures, engineering documentation, and test reports.
Familiarity with ECSS, NASA, IPC, MIL, or equivalent aerospace testing and workmanship standards is desirable.
