Role Description

Wealth and Advice Solutions Technology (WAS Tech) is an organization within Schwab Technology Services aligned to support the technology needs of Wealth and Advice Solutions (WAS) business which is a growth area for Schwab.

This newly created Lead Software Engineering role will drive technical excellence and engineering leadership to accelerate the strategic growth of the WAS business. As a Tech Lead, you will enable WAS Tech to achieve consistent, predictable, high-quality delivery by establishing engineering best practices, designing scalable automation frameworks, and providing technical oversight and guidance across software development and testing initiatives. You'll serve as both a hands-on technical expert and engineering leader, mentoring development teams while driving architectural decisions.

You will lead the delivery of complex, high-impact solutions that align with business objectives, fostering technical innovation in our collaborative, fast-paced setting.

You will play a critical role in supporting key stakeholders across the WAS organization which is focused on high-net worth and ultra-high net worth retail investors. Supported business functions span Schwabs Wealth and Investment Solutions including Schwab Wealth Advisory. You will be working with a team of talented and highly motivated technologists that strive to make technology a strategic differentiator for Schwabs WAS business and their clients

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deliver solutions as part of an Agile Scrum team





Leverage understanding of software development principles and practices to help mentor and coach junior team members

Support and triage issues and participate in production support to help develop resilient and secure systems to prevent issues that impact on our clients.

Collaborate with product owners and business stakeholders to define strategy and scope of software requirements (decompose stories, design features, and prioritize tasks)

Delivering new concepts and features, working alongside development peers in an agile environment

Utilize AI and other automated software test tools and frameworks such as test-driven development to achieve the highest quality in software delivery

Required Qualifications

- BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of qualified software development experience
- Experience in Agile/Scrum development environments
- 3+ years of Angular (versions 12+) with TypeScript
- Proficiency in modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3/SCSS
- Experience with RxJS and reactive programming patterns
- Understanding of state management (NgRx preferred)
- Responsive design and cross-browser compatibility




- 3+ years of Java development
- Comprehensive testing experience (unit, integration, e2e)
- Git version control and CI/CD pipelines
- Code review and quality assurance practices
- Technical documentation and communication skills
- SQL database experience (PostgreSQL, MSSQL, or Oracle)
- Cloud platform deployment (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Understanding of containerization and cloud-native applications
- Designs advanced support processes and mentors peers to optimize functionality and security
- Establishes robust processes to create, secure, and monitor data pipelines and stores
- Designs efficient processes to resolve incidents and minimize downtime
