Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Cook to manage the daily food preparation and kitchen operations at our manufacturing facility. The primary responsibility is to prepare safe, hygienic, and nutritious meals for a large workforce (e.g., 100–300 employees per shift), adhering to strict food safety, quality, and cost standards. The role supports employee well-being and productivity by ensuring wholesome food in a clean, organized canteen environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Food Preparation & Menu Planning
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack items as per the approved weekly menu, including regional Indian vegetarian/non-vegetarian (if applicable) meals.
- Adjust recipes and quantities based on daily shift attendance (general and night shifts).
- Plan and rotate menus to provide variety, nutrition, and seasonal appropriateness while minimizing waste.
- Prepare special meals for festivals, celebrations, or employees on dietary restrictions (e.g., diabetic, medical).
2. Hygiene & Safety Compliance
- Strictly follow FSSAI guidelines and company sanitation protocols.
- Ensure personal hygiene (clean uniform, gloves, hairnet, no illness) and proper food handling (avoid cross-contamination, maintain cooking temperatures).
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment (stoves, mixers, tandoor), utensils, storage areas, and floors.
- Dispose of kitchen waste and used oil as per environmental standards (aligned with Gravita’s sustainability focus).
3. Inventory & Cost Control
- Assist in daily/monthly inventory of raw materials (vegetables, grains, spices, oil, milk products).
- Inspect incoming ingredients for quality, quantity, and freshness; reject substandard items.
- Minimize food spoilage through proper storage (dry, refrigeration, labeling with dates).
- Collaborate with admin to order supplies within budget, avoiding overstocking or shortages.
4. Team Coordination & Shift Management
- Supervise or assist helper(s) in cutting vegetables, serving, dishwashing, and canteen cleaning.
- Coordinate with shift supervisors to stagger meal breaks without disrupting production schedules.
- Ensure timely meal service for multiple shifts (e.g., 8 AM–5 PM, 5 PM–2 AM, night shift).
5. Equipment Maintenance
- Report any malfunctioning kitchen equipment (oven, exhaust, refrigerator) to admin for immediate repair.
- Ensure gas cylinders, electrical appliances, and fire extinguishers are handled safely.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: 10th or 12th pass; Diploma/Certificate in Food Production, Hotel Management, or ITI (Catering) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years as a cook, preferably in a factory canteen, industrial mess, or large hostel kitchen (scale: 100+ people per meal).
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in bulk cooking (tadka, pressure cookers, large tawas/kadhai).
- Basic knowledge of roti-making machines, rice cookers, and industrial stoves.
- Ability to prepare simple, nutritious, and tasty vegetarian meals (Gravita may prefer pure veg; specify if non-veg allowed).
- Soft Skills:
- Time management and punctuality.
- Teamwork and communication (Hindi/English/regional language).
- Problem-solving during supply shortages or equipment failure.
