The Microbiologist is responsible for ensuring the microbiological safety and quality of milk and dairy products by conducting laboratory testing, monitoring hygiene and sanitation practices, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform microbiological analysis of raw milk, processed milk, water, finished products, and environmental samples.
- Conduct tests for Total Plate Count (TPC), Coliforms, Yeast & Mold, E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, and other microorganisms as required.
- Monitor plant hygiene and sanitation through environmental swab testing.
- Prepare, sterilize, and maintain microbiological culture media and laboratory equipment.
- Record, analyze, and report test results accurately.
- Investigate microbiological deviations and support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), HACCP, ISO 22000/FSSC 22000, and food safety regulations.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments according to standard procedures.
- Maintain laboratory documentation, test records, and quality reports.
- Support internal and external audits by providing microbiological records and technical information.
- Train production personnel on hygiene, sanitation, and microbiological safety practices.
- Coordinate with production and quality teams to ensure consistent product quality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Microbiology, Food Microbiology, Biotechnology, Dairy Technology, or a related field.
- Experience in a dairy or food manufacturing laboratory is preferred.
- Knowledge of microbiological testing methods and food safety standards.
Required Skills
- Laboratory testing and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of dairy microbiology and food pathogens.
- Understanding of HACCP, GMP, GLP, ISO 22000/FSSC 22000.
- Good documentation and record-keeping practices.
- Solid communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Basic computer skills (MS Office and laboratory documentation).
Working Conditions
- Laboratory and dairy production environment.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- May require shift work, including weekends or holidays, depending on production schedules.

- Accuracy and timeliness of microbiological test results.
- Compliance with food safety and quality standards.
- Reduction in microbiological non-conformities.
- Timely reporting and closure of CAPA.
- Successful completion of internal and external audits.
- Proper maintenance of laboratory records and equipment.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
