Role Overview:

Khelo Tech is looking for a Design Manager to own and scale our design function across products, platforms, and large-scale sports ecosystems.

This role is not limited to UI delivery. The Design Manager will be responsible for:

- Product discovery
- Design systems
- UX quality
- Design execution at scale
- Mentorship and team structure

You will work closely with Product, Engineering, and Leadership to ensure that design decisions are strategic, scalable, and grounded in real-world usage across federations, governments, athletes, and operators.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Product & UX Leadership

- Own end-to-end design across web and mobile products
- Translate complex workflows (GMS, AMS, CMS, portals) into clear, usable experiences
- Partner with Product Managers to shape:
- Problem definition
- User journeys
- Feature prioritisation
- Ensure design decisions are aligned with business, operational, and technical constraints

2. Design System Ownership

- Build, evolve, and govern a scalable design system
- Ensure consistency across:
- Products
- Clients
- States/federations
- Reduce design-to-dev friction through clear components, tokens, and documentation

3. Team Management & Mentorship

- Lead and mentor designers (junior to mid-level)
- Set quality benchmarks and review standards
- Drive design velocity without compromising quality
- Participate in hiring and structuring the design team as the organisation scales

4. Discovery, Research & Validation

- Establish lightweight but effective user research practices
- Validate assumptions through:
- User interviews
- Field insights
- Operational feedback
- Ensure design is informed by real usage, not just specs

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration





- Work closely with Engineering to ensure:
- Feasible designs
- Clear handoffs
- Reduced rework
- Support leadership with:
- Design rationale
- Trade-offs
- Decision-ready artefacts

What We’re Looking For:

Must-Have

- 4+ years of experience in Product / UX Design
- Prior experience managing designers
- Strong understanding of:
- Complex workflows
- Enterprise / B2B products
- Platform-based systems
- Proven experience building or owning a design system
- Ability to operate in ambiguity and evolving requirements

Positive to Have

- Experience with SaaS, GovTech, SportsTech, or large-scale platforms
- Exposure to operationally heavy products (admin panels, workflows, dashboards)
- Ability to think in systems, not just screens

Tools & Skills

- Figma (advanced)
- Design systems & component libraries
- UX research methods

- Strong written and verbal communication
