The Chemist is responsible for performing chemical and physicochemical analysis of raw milk, intermediate products, finished dairy products, water, and cleaning solutions to ensure product quality, food safety, and compliance with regulatory and company standards.
Key Responsibilities Quality Control
- Analyze raw milk for fat, SNF (Solids-Not-Fat), protein, acidity, density, and adulteration.
- Perform physicochemical testing of milk and dairy products such as curd, paneer, butter, ghee, yogurt, and milk powder.
- Conduct routine analysis of finished products to ensure compliance with product specifications.
- Test process water, boiler water, and CIP (Clean-in-Place) chemicals as per quality standards.
- Verify the quality of incoming raw materials, ingredients, and packaging materials.
Laboratory Operations
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as milk analyzers, pH meters, lactometers, Gerber centrifuges, spectrophotometers, and moisture analyzers.
- Prepare standard solutions, reagents, and calibration materials.
- Perform instrument calibration and maintain calibration records.
- Ensure laboratory cleanliness and follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
Documentation
- Record and maintain laboratory test reports accurately.
- Prepare Certificates of Analysis (COA) where applicable.
- Maintain laboratory registers, test records, and quality documentation.
- Report out-of-specification (OOS) results immediately to the QC Manager.
Compliance
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), HACCP, ISO 22000/FSSC 22000, and food safety regulations.
- Support internal and external quality audits.
- Assist in investigations, corrective actions (CAPA), and continuous improvement activities.
Coordination
- Coordinate with production, procurement, and quality teams regarding product quality issues.
- Support product trials and new product development activities when required.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and employee training programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Dairy Technology, Food Science, or a related field.
- Experience in a dairy, food processing, or beverage manufacturing laboratory is preferred.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of dairy chemistry and food quality analysis.
- Familiarity with milk testing methods and laboratory instruments.
- Understanding of GMP, GLP, HACCP, ISO 22000/FSSC 22000.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good documentation and report-writing abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

- Accuracy and timeliness of laboratory test results.
- Compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Reduction in out-of-specification (OOS) results.
- Timely reporting of quality deviations.
- Successful completion of internal and external audits.
- Proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Accurate laboratory documentation and record management.
Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
