Job Summary

The Rigger is responsible for safely lifting, moving, positioning, and securing heavy equipment, structural components, and machinery within the shipyard. The role involves selecting appropriate lifting gear, inspecting rigging equipment, and working closely with crane operators, supervisors, and other trades to ensure safe lifting operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform rigging activities for lifting and moving heavy loads.
- Select and inspect slings, shackles, hooks, wire ropes, chain blocks, spreader beams, and other lifting equipment before use.
- Calculate load weights and determine the correct lifting method.
- Attach and secure loads using appropriate rigging techniques.
- Guide crane operators using standard hand and radio signals.
- Ensure loads are balanced and safely positioned during lifting operations.
- Conduct pre-use inspections of lifting gear and report defective equipment.
- Follow approved lifting plans and method statements.
- Maintain housekeeping in work areas and store rigging equipment properly.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and risk assessments.
- Comply with all company HSE policies and lifting regulations.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Rigger certification (Level I/II/III or equivalent).




- Additional lifting and rigging certifications are an advantage.

Experience

- 3–5 years of rigging experience in a shipyard, offshore, construction, or heavy industrial workplace.
- Experience handling heavy structural steel, machinery, and marine equipment.

Required Skills

- Knowledge of lifting equipment and rigging hardware.
- Ability to read lifting plans and rigging drawings.
- Understanding of load calculations and center of gravity.
- Familiarity with crane signaling procedures.
- Strong awareness of safety practices and hazard identification.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physically fit and able to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Working Conditions

- Outdoor work in shipyard and marine environments.

- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
