Role Overview

We are establishing a brand-new, state-of-the-art Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) and Surface Mount Technology (SMT) facility. We are seeking a highly experienced or recently retired Senior Industrial Expert to guide us through the critical phases of factory design, machinery sourcing, facility infrastructure compliance, and early-stage business development.

This is a strategic advisory role combining technical greenfield execution with commercial market positioning to help us build a world-class facility and secure high-value manufacturing contracts.

- Engagement Type: Project-based Consultant / Advisory Role (Part-time / Retainership / Full-time options open)
- Location: Kolkata (Bengal Silicon Valley Tech Hub)

Key Responsibilities

- Facility Infrastructure & SMT Line Setup (Technical Sourcing)

- Infrastructure Design: Guide the structural layout of the 40,000 sq. ft. facility, focusing on optimum workflow, material movement, and high-efficiency Lean layouts.
- ESD & Cleanroom Sourcing: Define specifications for specialized anti-static ESD flooring, Class 100,000 / Class 10,000 cleanroom requirements, and integrated HVAC / Air Handling Unit (AHU) setups.
- Machinery Selection & Capex Evaluation: Draft technical evaluation frameworks and lead the selection of the SMT line matrix (including Screen Printers, 3D SPI, High-Speed Pick & Place machines, Multi-zone Reflow Ovens, and 3D AOI/X-Ray inspection systems).
- Vendor & OEM Negotiation: Interface with global machine manufacturers and distributors to evaluate technical proposals, negotiate commercial pricing, and oversee installation, commissioning, and validation protocols.

- Process, Quality & Certifications

- Process Compliance: Establish process control parameters, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and strict quality control gates in accordance with IPC-A-610 Class 2 and Class 3 standards.
- Certification Readiness:



Lay the operational foundation required to easily secure certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 13485 (Medical Devices), AS9100 (Aerospace/Defense), and IATF 16949 (Automotive).
- Skill Development: Outline training frameworks for production operators and process engineers to build a skilled local technical workforce.

- EMS Business Development & Market Strategy

- Strategic GTM (Go-To-Market): Leverage industry networks to position our facility as a premier OEM/ODM manufacturing partner across target industrial sectors (e.g., Power Electronics, Railways, Healthcare, Defense, Clean Energy).
- Lead Generation & Networking: Connect our leadership team with high-volume domestic and international clients looking for reliable Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) partners.
- Costing & RFQ Architecture: Assist in building robust, competitive RFQ (Request for Quote) pricing models, bill of materials (BOM) costings, and commercial proposals.

Candidate Profile & Experience

- Industry Background: Minimum 20 to 25+ years of hands-on experience in Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS), with a strong focus on high-speed SMT line operations.
- Prior Leadership: Held senior positions such as Head of Operations, Plant Head, VP of Manufacturing, or Technical Director at a reputed domestic or global EMS organization.
- Greenfield Experience: Proven track record of successfully setting up an SMT manufacturing line or electronic factory from the greenfield/shell stage.
- Technical Mastery: In-depth knowledge of facility infrastructure (HVAC, cleanrooms, ESD epoxy/tiles) and machine performance benchmarks (CPH, placement accuracy, component pitches down to 01005 / BGA / QFN).
- Network & Connects: Active executive-level relationships within the Indian electronics ecosystem and component supply chains.
