About the Role

Manage daily operations at a Bought Leaf tea factory — from green leaf procurement through CTC manufacture to dispatch — ensuring consistent quality, cost control, and auction-ready output.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Process Oversight

- Supervise the full CTC process — withering, rolling/CTC cutting, fermentation, drying, sorting, grading.
- Monitor withering trough conditions, fermentation timing, and drier temperatures to maintain liquor quality and consistency.
- Coordinate with the factory's tea taster/quality staff on batch-level adjustments.

Machine & Plant Management

- Oversee operation and maintenance of withering troughs, CTC rollers, fermentation units, driers, and sorting/grading machinery.
- Minimise machine downtime through preventive maintenance scheduling.




- Manage boiler/furnace operations and fuel consumption efficiently.

Quality Control

- Ensure made tea meets grade specifications (BOP, BOPSM, PF, Dust, etc.) consistently across batches.
- Maintain tasting/quality records batch-wise; address recurring quality issues at source (leaf, process, or machine).
- Ensure compliance with FSSAI and Tea Board quality/packaging norms.

Production Planning, Inventory & Reporting

- Plan daily processing capacity against expected green leaf intake.
- Maintain records of green leaf purchased, made tea output, grade-wise yield %, and wastage.
- Prepare daily/weekly production and yield reports for management.
- Coordinate packing and dispatch timelines ahead of auction sale deadlines (Siliguri/Guwahati/Kolkata auction centres).

Compliance & Documentation

- Maintain Tea Board registration compliance and BLF licensing records.
- Ensure factory complies with labour, safety, and environmental regulations.
