Job Summary

We are seeking an Engineer to join the Engine & Power Solutions Center of Excellence (COE) in Bangalore. This role is responsible for supporting the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of diesel engine components and systems throughout the product development lifecycle.

The successful candidate will contribute to a range of engineering initiatives, including New Product Introduction (NPI), New Technology Introduction (NTI), productivity, cost optimization, and reliability improvement projects. Working in a global, cross-functional environment, the engineer will collaborate closely with design, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, validation, and supplier teams to develop and implement robust engineering solutions that meet performance, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.

This position requires a strong engineering foundation, effective problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic workplace. The ideal candidate is a quick learner, self-motivated, and capable of working independently while contributing effectively within a team.

Experience with CAD tools, engineering drawings, and product development processes is considered an advantage. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates in accordance with company policy.

Key Responsibilities

- Support the design, development, and validation of diesel engine components and subsystems to meet performance, reliability, cost, and quality objectives.
- Execute engineering activities including concept development, engineering calculations, material selection, DFMEA, tolerance analysis, and design verification.




- Develop and maintain component specifications, validation plans, engineering documentation, and design records.
- Present technical solutions, project status, and engineering deliverables during design and technical reviews, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, sourcing, quality, validation, and supplier teams to develop robust, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions.
- Support component, engine, and field validation activities, including test planning, data analysis, and resolution of technical issues.
- Support root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to improve product performance and reliability.
- Assist in managing project deliverables related to quality, cost, schedule, and technical execution.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives through innovation, simplification, and adoption of best engineering practices.
- Communicate technical findings, project status, risks, and recommendations effectively within cross-functional teams.

Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in mechanical product design, development, validation, or related engineering roles.




- Experience supporting component or subsystem development projects in engines, rail, automotive, heavy equipment, or similar industries
- Good understanding of product development processes, engineering documentation, and design release procedures.
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, DFMEA, and GD&T.;
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, sourcing, quality, validation, and suppliers.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
- Willingness to support testing, validation, and field issue resolution activities.
- Ability and willingness to travel as required.

Desired Characteristics
- Master s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
- Understanding of component and system-level validation methodologies.
- Working knowledge of CAD tools and engineering drawings, including Creo, NX, SolidWorks, or equivalent platforms.
- Working knowledge of engineering simulation tools, including ANSYS, GT-SUITE, AVL, or equivalent analysis platforms.
- Six Sigma Green Belt (GB) certification, or equivalent experience applying statistical problem-solving methodologies.
