The Instrumentation, SCADA & Automation Engineer shall be responsible for the engineering, implementation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of Instrumentation, SCADA, Communication, and Automation Systems for Water and Wastewater projects. The engineer shall independently execute assigned project activities while coordinating with Senior Engineers, Project Managers, OEMs, contractors, and clients.
1. Instrumentation
- Execute instrumentation engineering for Water Treatment Plants (WTP), Water Distribution Networks, Pumping Stations, Reservoirs, and Smart Water projects.
- Perform selection, sizing, installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of field instruments including electromagnetic flow meters (EMF), pressure transmitters, level transmitters, water quality analysers, control valves, and associated instrumentation.
- Prepare and review Instrument Datasheets, Instrument Index, I/O Lists, Cable Schedules, Hook-up Drawings, and installation drawings.
- Supervise field installation, loop checking, calibration, FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation and process measurement issues and coordinate with OEMs for resolution.
2. SCADA & Automation
- Configure, test, commission, and maintain SCADA systems for water and wastewater applications.
- Develop and maintain SCADA databases, graphics, alarms, trends, historian, reports, and operator interfaces.
- Integrate PLCs, RTUs, dataloggers, analysers, and third-party systems with SCADA platforms.
- Support PLC/RTU communication mapping,
tag configuration, and system testing.
- Perform SCADA backup, user management, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Support SQL database integration, reporting, dashboards, and operational analytics.
- Participate in FAT, SAT, integrated system testing, commissioning, and client handover.
3. Communication & Networking
- Configure and troubleshoot Industrial Ethernet, LAN/WAN, telemetry, and communication networks.
- Implement IP addressing, subnetting, VLAN configuration, and network documentation.
- Configure and troubleshoot Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA, MQTT, SNMP, and serial communication systems.
- Support VPN connectivity, GPRS/4G/5G communication, communication diagnostics, and telemetry integration.
- Assist in firewall configuration, NAT verification, port forwarding, and communication security under project requirements.
4. General Responsibilities
- Execute assigned engineering and commissioning activities independently.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, OEMs, and internal teams.
- Prepare engineering documents, commissioning reports, as-built drawings, and project documentation.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and project schedules.
- Provide technical support during operation, maintenance, and defect liability periods.
- Hands-on experience in SCADA, Database, Reporting, Automation, and Digital Integration software platforms used for Water Utility and Industrial Automation
