Role & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

- Administer and support Dell EMC Avamar backup infrastructure.

- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot backup and restore operations.

- Manage backup policies, datasets, schedules, retention, and replication.

- Integrate and administer Dell EMC Data Domain (DD Boost) with Avamar.

- Perform backup health checks, capacity planning, and performance tuning.

- Troubleshoot backup failures and perform root cause analysis (RCA).

- Execute backup server upgrades, patches, and migrations.

- Support VMware, Hyper-V, Windows, Linux, databases, and NAS backups.

- Handle disaster recovery testing and backup restoration activities.

- Work on Incident, Problem, Change, and Service Request management using ITIL processes.

- Develop automation scripts using Shell, PowerShell, or Python.

- Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and knowledge articles.





- Mentor L1/L2 engineers and participate in on-call support.

- Strong experience with Dell EMC Avamar Administration

- Dell EMC Data Domain

- Backup & Recovery concepts

- VMware vSphere / vCenter

- Windows & Linux Administration

- NDMP backups

- SAN/NAS Storage concepts

- DD Boost

- Backup Replication

- Disaster Recovery

- Shell, PowerShell, or Python scripting

- ITIL processes

- Performance tuning and capacity planning

Valuable to Have

- Dell EMC NetWorker

- Veritas NetBackup

- Commvault

- Rubrik or Veeam

- DPA (Data Protection Advisor)

- Cloud backup (AWS/Azure)

- Knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server, SAP HANA, and Exchange backups.
