A mid-market M&A; advisory firm is hiring senior professionals to independently lead a Strategic Business Unit as an entrepreneurial profit centre.

Structure: lean, flat reporting. Each SBU is an independent profit centre led by a Director or Partner with a 2-5 member deal team (AVP / Manager / Associate / Analyst) and minimum 2-3 sector coverage. The SBU lead is expected to generate at least 5x of the SBUs fixed salary cost as revenue, with the profit pool starting once 2x of fixed cost is met.

Key responsibilities

- Take independent charge of an SBU, responsible for performance, profitability, discipline, skill retention and overall development of self and the reporting team
- Integrate and align with the wider organisation and other SBUs
- Carry out management-level responsibilities including developmental initiatives and process standardisation
- Conduct periodic monitoring of SBU and team performance and complete year-end appraisals




- Generate periodic MIS reports and maintain central contact systems
- Maintain control over client relationships, business development process, team discipline and the new business pipeline
- Conduct risk assessment on potential and current relationships and filter for conflict and non-compliance situations
- Build career paths for the reporting team

Compensation structure: fixed salary plus a slab-based profit share of 20-50% of SBU profit, linked to revenue as a multiple of fixed cost. A higher fixed salary corresponds to a lower profit share and vice versa. Candidate profile: senior M&A; or corporate finance skilled capable of independently leading a business unit. Entrepreneurial mindset, leadership capability and a disciplined, process-oriented approach.
