Role Description The Design Head is a full-time, on-site role based in Bhopal, responsible for leading the product and panel design function for Indian Railways equipment and components. This role oversees the complete design lifecycle, including concept development, detailed engineering, validation, and design optimization for manufacturability and reliability.

The Design

Head will guide a multidisciplinary engineering team, review and approve drawings and technical documents, and ensure compliance with Indian Railways specifications and standards.



Daily responsibilities include coordinating with production, quality, and commissioning teams, resolving design-related issues from shop floor and field, and supporting integration and trial activities at customer sites. The role also involves collaborating with clients and partners, driving continuous improvement in design processes and tools, and mentoring engineers to build solid technical capabilities within the organization.

Qualifications Strong expertise in mechanical and electro-mechanical design for industrial or railway products, including component and panel design.

Proficiency in CAD/CAE tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) and ability to interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and technical specifications.

Experience in design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly, working closely with CNC machining, sheet metal forming, and electrical panel fabrication processes.

Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations for railway equipment, including Indian Railways specifications, safety requirements, and testing procedures.

Demonstrated leadership skills in managing engineering teams, assigning tasks, reviewing work, and developing talent through coaching and feedback.

Strong project management capabilities, including planning, prioritization, risk assessment, and coordination with cross-functional stakeholders.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex design challenges and field issues in a structured manner.
