Job Title: Cost Accountant / Inventory Control Manager
Department: Finance & Accounts
Reports To: Finance Head / CFO
Location: Tumkur
Job Summary The Cost Accountant / Inventory Control Manager is responsible for managing cost accounting, inventory control, statutory compliance, and financial reporting for the manufacturing operations. The role focuses on optimizing material consumption, strengthening inventory accuracy, ensuring GST compliance, reducing the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), and providing timely MIS reports to support business decisions. The incumbent will work closely with Production, Stores, Purchase, Logistics, and Finance teams to drive operational efficiency and cost optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Accounting & Financial Control
- Maintain accurate accounting entries related to inventory, production, and material transactions.
- Ensure proper product costing, cost allocation, and analysis of manufacturing expenses.
- Monitor and analyze Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and recommend cost reduction initiatives.
- Prepare monthly cost reports, variance analysis, and profitability reports.
Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory accuracy through regular stock reconciliation and physical stock verification.
- Minimize book vs. physical stock variances by implementing effective inventory control measures.
- Maintain inventory records and ensure accurate stock valuation.
- Identify slow-moving, non-moving, and obsolete inventory and recommend corrective actions.
- Implement effective WIP segregation and monitoring systems.
Material Consumption & Process Monitoring
- Monitor raw material and RP consumption against standards.
- Track color-wise inventory and material utilization.
- Analyze production losses and wastage, recommending process improvements.
- Coordinate with Production and Stores to improve inventory utilization and reduce material consumption.
GST & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure GST compliance for inventory transactions, billing, and statutory requirements.
- Verify accounting entries related to material movements and inventory.
- Support statutory audits, internal audits, and financial compliance activities.
- Ensure zero major audit observations through accurate documentation and controls.
Reporting & MIS
- Prepare timely MIS reports on inventory, throughput, material consumption, production efficiency, and stock analysis.
- Present inventory and cost performance reports to management.
- Generate analytical reports to support strategic decision-making.
Logistics & Documentation
- Verify E-Way Bills, billing documents, export documentation, and material movement records.
- Coordinate with logistics, stores, and dispatch teams for smooth documentation and inventory flow.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures for inventory transactions.
Support Responsibilities
- Provide accurate financial and inventory-related MIS reports to management.
- Coordinate with Production, Stores, Purchase, and Logistics departments for effective operations.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and reconciliations.
- Review transport, canteen, utility, and other administrative expenses for cost optimization.
- Drive waste reduction initiatives and improve sales realization of scrap and value-added materials.
