Clean Energy PPA & Market - Intern Internship Sustainability Economics.ai • Clean Energy & Project Finance • In office — Bangalore Duration: 6 months (full-time) • Start: Immediately • Stipend: ₹30,000 / month About Us Sustainability Economics.ai is a global organization pioneering the convergence of clean energy and AI — enabling profitable energy transitions while powering end-to-end AI infrastructure. We integrate AI-driven cloud solutions with sustainable energy to build scalable, intelligent ecosystems that drive efficiency, innovation, and long-term impact across industries. Guided by leaders with decades of expertise in finance, policy, technology, and innovation, we are committed to realizing this vision through technical innovation, client services, and deep domain capability.

About the Role We are looking for a self-driven analyst to power the data, financial, and regulatory foundation of our clean-energy platform. You will gather and structure power purchase agreement (PPA) and power-market data, build and maintain the project-finance models that score each deal, and translate the compliance requirements for captive, group-captive, and third-party (open-access) procurement into clear, usable rules. You will connect real market data, and regulatory know-how to help buyers choose the right structure with confidence — working accurately and independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities Build the PPA & market-data backbone: source, clean, and maintain PPA and power-market data across jurisdictions — tariffs, escalation, tenor, contract terms, grid/retail benchmarks, open-access charges,

cross-subsidy surcharges, and REC/EAC pricing.

Decode compliance: research and document the regulatory requirements for captive, group-captive, and third-party / IPP (open-access) procurement, and convert them into clear, usable rules and checklists.

Compare structures: assess 100% captive vs group-captive vs third-party on cost, savings, balance-sheet impact, and bankability, and present the trade-offs clearly.

Validate & cite: check model outputs and data against primary sources; document assumptions and flag gaps and risks.

Maintain the library: keep a structured library of PPA templates, term benchmarks, and jurisdiction-specific compliance checklists.

Enable the team: support deal teams with quick, accurate scenario runs and decision-ready analysis.

Requirements Eligibility &

Education Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's Energy / Environmental Studies, or a related quantitative field. Must-Have Skills & Knowledge Ability to read PPAs and regulatory / tariff documents and extract commercial terms accurately. Strong data-gathering and data-hygiene discipline — sourcing, cleaning, and structuring market and PPA data from primary sources.

Clear written communication — turns complex financial and regulatory analysis into concise memos, tables, and checklists. Rigor and accuracy — verifies every number and cites every source. Self-directed — delivers accurate work independently with minimal supervision. Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Familiarity with PPA structures and commercial terms — physical / virtual, open access, tolling, tariff, escalation, settlement, credit support, RECs. Exposure to the regulatory landscape for captive / group-captive / third-party procurement — e.g., India's group-captive norms (≥26% equity, ≥51% self-consumption), open-access & banking rules, cross-subsidy surcharge — and/or incentives such as ITC and accelerated depreciation. Multi-market exposure (India + US / EU / Singapore) and REC / I-REC / EAC markets.

What You'll Bring (Attributes) Startup DNA — bias to action, comfort with ambiguity, love of fast iteration, and a growth mindset. Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Proactive and self-motivated, with excellent time management and a readiness to take ownership.
