Key Responsibilities:
1. Clinical and Surgical Responsibilities:
- Perform cardiac surgical procedures including:
- Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
- Valve repair/replacement (aortic, mitral, etc.)
- Aortic aneurysm surgeries
- Congenital heart defect corrections (if pediatric expertise)
- Minimally invasive and beating heart surgeries (if applicable)
- Manage pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care in coordination with the cardiac anesthesiology and critical care team.
- Participate actively in cardiac ICU rounds and ensure continuity of care.
- Evaluate and counsel patients for surgical interventions in OPD and IPD settings.
2. Team Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work collaboratively with cardiologists, cardiac anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and intensivists as part of a multidisciplinary heart team.
- Participate in heart team meetings to discuss complex cases and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Supervise and guide junior surgeons, registrars, and surgical residents.
3. Academic and Training Contribution (if applicable):
- Teach and train DNB/MCh residents, fellows, and OR staff.
- Conduct and participate in departmental CMEs, workshops, and case discussions.
- Promote clinical audits, case presentations, and academic research.
4. Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to clinical guidelines, institutional protocols, and infection control practices.
- Contribute to NABH/JCI compliance, surgical safety checklists, and patient outcome reviews.
- Maintain high standards in surgical documentation, consents, and medico-legal compliance.
5. Patient-Centered Care:
- Counsel patients and families regarding surgical procedures, risks, prognosis, and post-operative care.
- Ensure ethical, evidence-based, and empathetic care at all stages of the patient journey.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Educational Qualification:
- MBBS + MS (General Surgery) + MCh / DNB (Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery)
- Experience:
- Minimum 5–10 years of independent experience in cardiac surgery post-super-specialization
- Experience in minimally invasive and/or robotic cardiac surgery (preferred)
- Licensure:
- Valid registration with State/National Medical Council

- Membership in professional bodies (e.g., IACTS, STS, EACTS)
- Willingness to contribute to program development and department expansion
