Purpose/Objective

Blasting Assistant Manager oversees all blasting operations within the mine, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, DGMS guidelines, and other statutory requirements.

The role involves developing and implementing detailed blasting plans, optimizing the use of explosives and equipment, and maintaining accurate records of all blasting activities.

The Blasting Assistant Manager also supervises the work of the Blasting Foreman and Blasters, conducts regular training sessions, and addresses any personnel issues that arise within the team.

Additionally, the role includes coordinating with other departments, reporting on blasting activities, and upholding high ethical standards in all operations.

Key Responsibilities of Role

Blasting Operations Management: Oversee all blasting operations within the mine, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and safety protocols.

Develop and implement detailed blasting plans, including the selection and placement of explosives, timing, and sequencing.

Coordinate with the Blasting Foreman and Blasters to ensure that all blasting activities are executed safely and efficiently.

Regulatory Compliance and Safety Governance: Ensure that all blasting operations comply with DGMS regulations, PESO guidelines, and other statutory requirements.

Conduct risk assessments and safety analyses to identify and mitigate potential hazards in blasting operations.

Monitor the work setting for potential hazards, ensuring that all safety measures are in place and enforced.

Internal Controls and Operational Transparency: Implement internal controls to ensure the accuracy and transparency of blasting operations.





Maintain detailed records of all blasting activities, including the amount of explosives used, blast results, and any incidents.

Ensure that all documentation related to blasting operations is accurate, up-to-date, and stored securely for future reference.

Team Leadership and Training: Supervise the work of the Blasting Foreman and Blasters, providing guidance and support as needed.

Conduct regular training sessions to ensure that all team members are familiar with blasting safety procedures and operational standards.

Address any personnel issues that arise within the blasting team, ensuring they are resolved promptly and fairly.

Equipment and Maintenance Coordination: Oversee the use of blasting equipment, ensuring that it is operated safely and efficiently.

Coordinate with the Maintenance Head to schedule necessary repairs or maintenance, minimizing equipment downtime.

Ensure that all equipment is inspected regularly and that any issues are reported promptly.

Communication and Coordination: Facilitate effective communication within the blasting team and with other departments, ensuring that blasting operations are coordinated with overall mining activities.

Report any issues or concerns to the Statutory Mines Manager promptly, ensuring they are addressed in a timely manner.





Participate in planning meetings, contributing to the development of blasting strategies and solutions to operational challenges.

Ethics and Integrity: Uphold high ethical standards in all blasting operations, ensuring that all activities are conducted with integrity.

Encourage team members to act honestly and transparently in their work, reporting any concerns or unethical behavior.

Address any ethical issues that arise within the blasting team, ensuring that they are handled in accordance with company policy.

Qualifications and Experience

Education Qualification: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering with a 1st Class Manager Competency Certificate issued by DGMS.

Work Experience: 5+ years of experience in blasting operations within mining, with significant exposure to safety and regulatory compliance.

Industry Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of blasting operations, including planning, execution, and safety management.

Expertise in DGMS regulations, PESO guidelines, and best practices for handling explosives.
