About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Batch Scheduling Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will lead the design, configuration, and ongoing improvement of our enterprise batch scheduling landscape, primarily built on Redwood RunMyJobs (RMJ). You will serve as the technical point of contact for scheduling across SAP and non-SAP platforms, ensuring that thousands of critical business jobs execute reliably, securely, and on schedule.

Your expertise will help define and enforce scheduling standards, drive automation of complex workflows, and explore innovative solutions—including emerging technologies like artificial intelligence—to optimize batch processes.

The Senior Batch Scheduling

Engineer will own the end-to-end lifecycle of batch jobs, from design and deployment to monitoring and retirement. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including SAP Basis teams, application owners, and business units, to coordinate landscape changes, release cycles, and business calendars. Additionally, mentoring junior engineers, supporting audit and compliance requirements, and acting as an escalation point for complex incidents will be integral parts of your responsibilities.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess over five years of hands-on experience with enterprise batch scheduling tools, including Redwood RunMyJobs or equivalent platforms such as SAP CPS by Redwood, Control-M, Tivoli Workload Scheduler, or AutoSys. A strong understanding of SAP batch architecture—covering SM36/SM37, background work processes, RFC connections, event-driven jobs, BW process chains, and Solution Manager documentation—is essential.

Experience scheduling non-SAP workloads, such as database jobs (Oracle, SQL Server, HANA), file-based triggers, secure file transfers (SFTP/MFT), and custom application workflows, is also required. Proficiency in scripting and automation, including Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Java, will be critical for building and maintaining efficient workflows. Candidates should have a solid understanding of workflow design principles, including dependencies, error handling, retries, parameterization, and reusability.

Troubleshooting skills, log analysis, and performance tuning experience are also highly valued. Excellent communication skills in English—both written and spoken—are mandatory, with additional languages considered a plus.

Responsibilities Own the complete lifecycle of batch jobs within Redwood RunMyJobs, including design, configuration, deployment, monitoring, optimization, and retirement processes.

Establish and enforce scheduling standards, naming conventions, and governance policies across SAP (S/4HANA, ECC, BW, Solution Manager) and non-SAP platforms (databases, file transfers, custom applications).

Design and maintain complex workflows and job chains, incorporating event-driven scheduling, dynamic dependencies, parameterized templates, conditional logic, and cross-system orchestration.

Research, prototype,



and implement AI and automation techniques to enhance scheduling efficiency, such as intelligent failure analysis, automated remediation workflows, and AI-assisted job design and documentation.

Serve as the Level 3 escalation point for complex scheduling incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures to minimize recurrence.

Collaborate with SAP Basis teams, application owners, and business stakeholders to coordinate landscape changes, release cycles, and align with business calendars including month-end, year-end, and fiscal closes.

Mentor junior engineers, review configurations, and facilitate knowledge transfer within the team to promote continuous learning and improvement.

Support audit, compliance, and security requirements, including SOX, segregation of duties, and role-based access controls within Redwood RunMyJobs.
