Job Summary

The role supports the AML/CTF Advisory function in providing risk-based advice, oversight, and challenge across the Institutional business. Working closely with business stakeholders, Compliance, and Financial Crime specialists, you will assist in the interpretation and application of AML/CTF obligations, regulatory requirements, and risk management frameworks. You will contribute to risk assessments, management reporting, governance activities, regulatory impact analysis, and the identification of emerging Financial Crime risks. The role provides an opportunity to develop expertise in AML/CTF advisory, regulatory compliance, and Financial Crime risk management within a complex Institutional Banking setting.

Reporting to the Associate Director, AML/CTF Advisory, the Associate - AML/CTF Advisory role sits within the Financial Crime Compliance Centre of Excellence (FCC CoE), part of the broader Institutional Non-Financial Risk (NFR) Centre of Excellence.

What will your day look like

As an Associate - AML/CTF Advisory, you will:

- Support the AML/CTF Advisory team in delivering risk-based advice on Financial Crime regulatory obligations, policies, and standards across the Institutional business.
- Assist in the review and interpretation of AML/CTF regulations, regulatory updates, and policy changes to identify potential business impacts.
- Prepare Financial Crime risk insights, management reporting, and governance materials for senior stakeholders and risk forums.
- Support the analysis of AML/CTF risk profiles, emerging risks, issues,



and trends across products, customers, and business activities.
- Contribute to AML/CTF risk assessments, risk reviews, and control evaluations to support effective risk management and regulatory compliance.
- Assist with the preparation of risk opinions and advisory guidance relating to AML/CTF obligations and compliance requirements.
- Analyse risk events, regulatory findings, and control weaknesses to identify themes and support remediation activities.
- Partner with business, Compliance, and Financial Crime stakeholders to support the implementation of regulatory and policy requirements.
- Support ongoing enhancements to Financial Crime risk management practices, reporting, governance, and controls.
- Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing, and customer-focused Centre of Excellence environment.

What will you bring

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
- 4-7 years of experience in AML/CTF Compliance, Financial Crime Risk Management, Compliance Advisory, Regulatory Compliance, Non-Financial Risk (NFR), or related risk disciplines within Banking or Financial Services.
- Sound understanding of AML, CTF, Financial Crime, and regulatory compliance obligations.




- Experience supporting Compliance Advisory, Financial Crime Advisory, Risk Management, or Regulatory Compliance functions.
- Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and support the translation of obligations into practical business outcomes.
- Experience preparing risk insights, AML/CTF reporting, management information, governance materials, and regulatory impact assessments.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and communicate meaningful risk insights.
- Experience supporting risk assessments, compliance reviews, issue management, or control evaluations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities with the ability to work across business, Compliance, and risk teams.
- A proactive mindset with strong attention to detail, planning, and organizational skills.
- Understanding of Non-Financial Risk frameworks and risk management principles.
- Experience within Institutional Banking or Commercial Banking environments.
- Exposure to AML/CTF Advisory, Financial Crime Compliance, KYC, Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), Transaction Monitoring, Sanctions, or Customer Risk Assessment activities.
- Familiarity with regulatory expectations and Financial Crime obligations within a highly regulated financial services environment.
- Knowledge of ANZs Non-Financial Risk Framework and NFR Hub.
- Exposure to advisory or oversight roles supporting AML/CTF compliance programs.
- Experience working with risk reporting, governance forums, and Financial Crime risk management frameworks.
