AltrusAI is a rapid-growing startup building AI-powered, insurance-focused solutions for clients across the globe. We work at the intersection of artificial intelligence and insurtech, helping organisations modernise and automate how they operate. As part of a small, high-ownership team, our interns work directly with experienced engineers and product leaders on real projects from day one — you won't be one more name on a large team.

About the role

We're looking for an AI/ML + Full-Stack Developer Intern who pairs solid software engineering fundamentals with genuine curiosity about modern AI and Machine Learning. This is a learning-heavy role. We don't expect you to arrive knowing the full AI stack — we expect strong fundamentals, real interest in AI, and the drive to go deep. You'll learn to build production-ready, AI-powered applications with mentorship from our engineers.

What you'll do

Contribute to full-stack applications built with React, Python, and PostgreSQL

Help design and implement AI-powered features and intelligent workflows

Work with ML and large language model (LLM) applications — from building to deployment and monitoring

Learn to build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and knowledge-retrieval systems

Experiment with prompt-engineering strategies and AI orchestration workflows

Help evaluate AI outputs and improve accuracy, reliability, and efficiency





Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver scalable AI solutions

What you should bring (foundations we expect from a final-year student)

Good programming fundamentals, ideally working knowledge of Python A solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving A conceptual understanding of Machine Learning fundamentals

Genuine curiosity about, and some exposure to, LLMs and Generative AI

Basic full-stack/web development exposure (React or similar, plus REST APIs)

Strong debugging instincts and the discipline to troubleshoot without over-relying on AI coding assistants

Bonus (nice to have, not expected)

Embeddings and vector databases · GraphRAG and Neo4j · LangChain / LlamaIndex · observability tools (Langfuse, Phoenix, MLflow, W&B;) · OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Hugging Face · Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and multi-agent systems

Hiring process

Technical assessment — all applicants complete a hands-on assessment of coding and problem-solving skills

Stipend: INR 8,000/month
