AI Lead

Full-Time | Technology / AI & Digital Innovation | Reports to: Head of IT

About the Role

We are looking for an AI Lead to architect and drive our enterprise AI strategy across the business. This is a hands-on technical role, ideal for someone who combines advanced software engineering with deep, practical expertise in large language model (LLM) orchestration. You will design and deploy production-grade AI solutions using platforms such as Anthropic's Claude, build autonomous agentic workflows, and mentor engineering teams as we embed AI into core operations across the building materials value chain from procurement and inventory to quoting, logistics, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

AI Architecture & Strategy

- Lead the design, integration, and scaling of enterprise-grade LLM solutions using platforms
- Define the technical roadmap for AI adoption across business functions, aligned to company priorities.

Agentic Workflows

- Build and deploy autonomous AI agents, multi-step tool-calling workflows, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) implementations.
- Design agent workflows that integrate with internal systems (ERP, CRM, inventory) and external data sources.

Engineering & Mentorship

- Guide development teams on Python-based microservices architecture, prompt engineering standards, and robust CI/CD integration.
- Establish coding, testing, and review practices for AI-driven features; mentor engineers on LLM best practices.

Required Technical Skills

Programming





- Advanced Python mastery — asynchronous programming, API design, and the broader data/ML ecosystem.

LLM & Prompt Expertise

- Deep, hands-on experience with Claude: prompt templating, context window management, and response optimization.

Orchestration & Frameworks

- Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or custom-built agent frameworks.

Infrastructure & MLOps

- Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure); vector databases for RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines.

Governance & Security

- Implementing PII controls, data masking, and secure LLM usage patterns in production environments.

What We're Looking For

- Proven track record shipping production LLM/agentic applications, not just prototypes.
- Strong technical leadership — able to set standards and mentor engineers, while staying hands-on with code.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving, industrial/B2B workplace where AI is applied to real operational problems (e.g., quoting, logistics, procurement, customer service) rather than purely research settings.
- Excellent communication skills to translate AI capabilities into business impact for non-technical stakeholders.
