Full time | Base: Flexible | Travel: 40% across Kenya & India
About the Company:
The company is a tech-enabled agricultural platform and not a traditional farming company, operating on an asset-light, highly scalable model. We set up strategic anchor farms while primarily partnering with a network of existing commercial Rural Entrepreneur Partners, empowering these partners with working capital, high-value agronomic expertise, and market access to improve yield and profitability. The real-time operational data we generate from the field serves as the underwriting collateral for our lending and insurance products, bridging agronomy, technology, and agricultural finance at scale.
Role Purpose:
Design, scale, and govern the agricultural operating system that powers a tech-enabled Agri-FinTech platform. The role spans across Kenya and India, with future expansion into LATAM and Southeast Asia.
You will be acting as the operational bridge between agronomy, technology, and agricultural finance; reporting directly to the CEO.
What Makes This Role Unique:
- Platform over Plantation: Orchestrate agronomy across a distributed network of 1000+ independent commercial farmers instead of managing a single estate.
- Agri-FinTech Integration: The farm data we generate becomes collateral for lending and insurance products. Traceability and audit-readiness are core.
- Asset-Light Model:
Scale operations without heavy fixed-asset fleets. Focus capital on yield security and platform control.
Core Responsibilities:
- Platform Agronomy: Architect SOPs for multi-crop operations. Lead deployment of digital extension services to transfer know-how at scale.
- Mechanisation Strategy: Orchestrate third-party Mechanisation-as-a-Service ecosystems instead of owning fleets.
- Infrastructure CAPEX: Own strategic deployment of capital into irrigation and water infrastructure to de-risk crop funding.
- Data & Systems: Integrate farm management software + ERP. Ensure field data triggers financial actions.
- Quality & Compliance: Maintain traceability, MRL compliance, and global certifications like GLOBALG.A.P. and SMETA.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 10+ years running multi-crop field operations in Africa, South Asia, LATAM, or SE Asia.
- Distributed Network Experience: Proven track record in contract farming / outgrower / REP-led models.
- Tech-Native: Fluent in agri-tech stacks. Comfortable with remote sensing data and translating field ops into ERP.
- Matrix Leadership: Lead local agronomists while partnering with Country Managers.
Preferred: Agronomy degree BSc/MSc, experience with Agri-Finance, audit/certification track record, regulatory fluency in export MRLs. Experience in Kenya and/or India.
