About the Role The Key Account Manager (GIS) is responsible for driving strategic business growth across the Government & Institutional Sales segment within the assigned region. The role combines strategic key account management with regional team leadership to maximize business opportunities, strengthen customer relationships, and ensure superior customer engagement across government and institutional accounts.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Key Account Management
- Develop and manage relationships with senior officials and decision-makers across key government and institutional organizations across the region.
- Drive business from strategic, high-value accounts including CPWD, Railways, Airports, Ports, Smart City Missions, City Development Authorities,
and other government institutions of central and state governments.
- Identify and convert large project opportunities while ensuring sustained engagement with key stakeholders.
Business Development
- Achieve regional sales targets for the GIS segment.
- Drive specification and adoption of new products across government and institutional projects.
- Plan and execute demand generation activities to create a strong project pipeline.
- Identify new business opportunities and expand market penetration within the assigned region.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with end customers, Project Management Consultants (PMCs), contractors, consultants, architects, and other project influencers.
- Position the organization as a preferred lighting solutions partner for government and institutional projects.
Team Leadership
- Lead, guide, and support the State Government Sales (SGS-GIS) team across the region.
- Provide direction on chance identification, project conversion, customer engagement, and business development activities.
- Review team performance, mentor members, and ensure effective execution of regional business plans.
- Conduct regular reviews of the team.
- Garner them support through HO and Branches.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Product Management, Sales Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial, and Customer Service teams to ensure timely support for GIS customers.
- Drive internal coordination to deliver superior customer experience and improve project conversion.
Commercial Governance
- Ensure timely payment collection and maintain healthy receivables.
- Monitor project execution, commercial compliance, and adherence to organizational policies.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, project pipelines, and business reports.

Competencies
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline. MBA preferred.
- 8–12 years of experience in Government & Institutional Sales, preferably in the lighting, electrical, building materials, or infrastructure industry.
- Strong understanding of government procurement processes, tendering, and project sales.
