6–12 Years Domain: Aerospace / Electronic Test Advanced Hardware Engineer – ATE / Electronic Test (6–12 Years) Job Summary We are seeking a Advanced Hardware Engineer with 6–12 years of experience in ATE hardware design and aerospace electronic test systems.
The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, documenting, and supporting hardware solutions for functional test,
structural test, ESS, qualification, production testing, development testing, deployment, MSA, electronic test strategy support, and test process compliance. The role requires strong technical understanding of electronic hardware architectures, instrumentation ecosystems, interface design, and disciplined engineering documentation in aerospace environments.
Responsibilities Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop ATE hardware architectures and subsystems for aerospace electronic products, including switching matrices, signal conditioning, measurement interfaces, power distribution, interconnects, and control hardware.
- Support end-to-end hardware implementation for functional test, structural test, ESS, qualification testing, production testing, and development testing applications.
- Prepare and review engineering documents including schematics, interconnect diagrams, cable/harness documentation, BOMs, power budgets, interface control documents, test setup drawings, and release packages.
- Coordinate hardware integration, subsystem validation, debug, fault isolation, and corrective action implementation during development and deployment phases.
- Work closely with software, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, procurement, and project engineering teams to ensure system-level compatibility and build readiness.
- Perform component selection, design trade-offs, derating analysis support, grounding/shielding considerations, and compliance checks for high-reliability environments.
- Participate in design reviews, readiness reviews, verification reviews, and issue closure activities.
- Support deployment planning, installation readiness, user documentation, training support, and field issue resolution where required.
- Coordinate or support MSA activities including calibration readiness, GR&R; studies, measurement correlation, and evaluation of measurement system performance.
- Contribute to product-level electronic test strategy by aligning hardware design with coverage, reliability, maintainability,
and production needs.
- Ensure compliance with defined test processes, engineering standards, configuration control, and aerospace documentation requirements.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
- 6–12 years of relevant experience in hardware design engineering, ATE system development, or aerospace/defense test hardware environments.
- Strong experience in schematic design, instrumentation integration, interface circuitry, switching systems, power systems, and controlled documentation.
- Experience supporting functional, structural, ESS, qualification, production, and development test setups.
- Valuable understanding of integration, debug, design reviews, release management, and engineering change processes.
- Ability to coordinate across cross-functional teams and manage technical deliverables to schedule.
- Working knowledge of hardware reliability, measurement performance, and test process compliance expectations.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with schematic capture and documentation tools such as OrCAD, Altium, Mentor Graphics, Zuken, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with PXI/VXI platforms, DAQ, instrumentation buses, switching systems, programmable power supplies, and test interface electronics.
- Knowledge of MSA, GR&R;, calibration, correlation, uncertainty analysis, and test data quality concepts.
- Understanding of EMI/EMC, grounding, shielding, signal integrity, and safety considerations in test hardware design.
- Exposure to PLM/PDM tools, issue management systems, and aerospace compliance-controlled environments.
- Awareness of process compliance audits, documentation quality metrics, and customer-specific review requirements.
