Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Microbiology Lab Technician with hands-on experience in Molecular to perform microbiological and molecular laboratory testing. The ideal candidate should have experience in sample processing, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR-based techniques, and laboratory quality standards while ensuring accurate and timely reporting.

Key Responsibilities

- Receive, process, and prepare clinical specimens for microbiology and molecular testing.
- Perform DNA/RNA extraction from various clinical samples.
- Conduct Real-Time PCR (RT-PCR), Conventional PCR, and other molecular diagnostic assays.
- Handle microbial culture, staining, identification, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing as required.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain molecular diagnostic instruments and laboratory equipment.
- Ensure proper documentation of test results and maintain laboratory records.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), NABL guidelines, and quality assurance protocols.
- Participate in Internal Quality Control (IQC) and External Quality Assurance (EQAS) programs.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness and adhere to biosafety and infection control practices.




- Report abnormal findings promptly to the reporting microbiologist or laboratory supervisor.
- Ensure proper storage and disposal of biological samples and laboratory waste.

Required Skills

- Hands-on experience in DNA/RNA Extraction.
- Knowledge of RT-PCR, PCR, and Molecular Diagnostic Techniques.
- Familiarity with microbiological culture methods and laboratory practices.
- Understanding of laboratory quality systems (IQC, EQAS, NABL).
- Ability to operate molecular diagnostic equipment.
- Positive analytical and documentation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts if required.

Preferred Experience

- Experience with molecular infectious disease diagnostics.
- Knowledge of automated nucleic acid extraction systems.
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Experience in accredited diagnostic laboratories will be an added advantage.
