Role Overview

The Production Unit Supervisor is responsible for supervising day-to-day production activities on the floor, ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and according to quality standards. The role requires strong leadership, excellent coordination skills, and hands-on experience in manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities1. Production Supervision

- Supervise daily production activities on the floor.
- Ensure production schedules are executed as planned.
- Monitor production output and achieve daily production targets.
- Ensure proper utilization of manpower, machines, and materials.
- Report production progress to the management.

2. Floor Management

- Allocate work among operators and production staff.
- Monitor discipline, attendance, and shift activities.
- Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Resolve day-to-day operational issues promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the production floor.

3. Team Management

- Lead and motivate production operators and helpers.
- Provide on-the-job training to new employees.




- Monitor employee productivity and work quality.
- Ensure effective communication during shift handovers.
- Promote teamwork and operational discipline.

4. Quality Control

- Ensure products are manufactured according to quality standards.
- Conduct in-process quality checks.
- Coordinate with the Quality team during inspections.
- Report quality issues immediately and implement corrective actions.
- Minimize product rejection and rework.

5. Inventory & Material Handling

- Ensure timely availability of raw materials for production.
- Monitor material consumption and minimize wastage.
- Coordinate with the Stores team for material requisition.
- Maintain accurate production and material usage records.

6. Machine & Equipment Monitoring

- Ensure machines are operated safely and efficiently.
- Monitor machine performance during production.
- Report equipment breakdowns immediately.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance team for preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Minimize machine downtime.

7. Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with company safety policies.
- Promote safe working practices on the floor.
- Ensure proper use of PPE by all employees.
- Maintain compliance with GMP, 5S, and workplace safety standards.




- Support internal and external audits.

8. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain accurate records of:

- Daily Production Reports
- Shift Reports
- Machine Utilization
- Material Consumption
- Rejection Reports
- Attendance Records
- Production Downtime
- Daily MIS Reports

Preferred Qualifications

- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing or production operations.
- Experience supervising production teams of 10–30 employees.
- Hands-on experience with ERP software is preferred.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, GMP, and workplace safety practices will be an added advantage.
