We are looking for a
Technology Engineer
to serve as the technical authority for Open-Source databases (
PostgreSQL, MongoDB
)
This role focuses on
standardization, automation, monitoring, and capacity planning
to ensure platform operational stability and efficiency. You will define and maintain a
product strategy, roadmap, and backlog
, driving innovation and cost efficiency through R&D; and vendor engagement. Key responsibilities include
establishing and enforcing performance standards
, enabling agile delivery for projects while safeguarding database performance. The role also involves
designing solutions to enhance operational stability
, automating deployments, and reducing business-impacting incidents. You will act as a
technical mentor and escalation point
, guiding teams and ensuring adherence to the Group IT Technology Stack.
Education
Essential:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Preferred:
Relevant qualified certifications.
Experience
Essential:
8–12 years of experience in a senior technical position within large organizations.
Preferred:
Experience in the banking industry.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
MongoDB
Excellent knowledge in MongoDB database administration, architecture, and internals.
Excellent knowledge of MongoDB backup/restore mechanisms, patching/upgrades, and Ops Manager.
Strong expertise in MongoDB replicase and sharding.
PostgreSQL




Excellent knowledge in PostgreSQL database administration, architecture, and internals.
Strong expertise in PostgreSQL high availability (HA) and clustering.
Proficient with PostgreSQL monitoring tools and backup/restore mechanisms.
MySQL
Excellent knowledge in MySQL database administration, architecture, and internals.
Strong expertise in MySQL high availability (HA) and clustering.
Proficient with MySQL monitoring tools and backup/restore mechanisms.
Cassandra
Good knowledge in Cassandra database administration, architecture, and internals.
Understanding of Cassandra HA, clustering, monitoring tools, and backup/restore mechanisms.
General Database Expertise
Excellent knowledge in database patching/upgrades, auditing, logging, and security practices.
Strong performance tuning and diagnostics skills.
Expertise in database migration.
Additional Technical Skills
Good knowledge of SQL and PL/pgSQL.
Good knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.
Familiarity with Agile working practices.
Knowledge of modern automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform).
Positive scripting skills (Bash, Python).
Behavioral Competencies
Strategic thinking with a research and development mindset.
Adequate understanding of project management methodologies.
Excellent communication skills — verbal, written, and presentation.
