The role will becrucial to further raise the bar of CEEW's research work by carrying out bigdata analyses relevant to supporting just transition in the mobility sector.The candidate will support CEEW's work on researching key problems cripplingurban transport in Indian cities by developing cutting-edge, scalable solutionsand tools using machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) for citygovernments and the larger public. The candidate will get exposure to the innerworkings of one of India's leading think tanks andwill have the prospect to understand the stakeholders that play a key rolein the mobility space.
The candidate will also provide support in makingtechno-economic models to forecast fuel consumption by the transportationsector.The candidate must have experience in the application of tools usingexcel, statistical modelling tools, ML/AI (eg. MATLAB, Python etc. ), andvisualising spatial data using Geographic Information Systems (e.g., ArcGIS,QGIS). S/he should be familiar with geospatial libraries such as GDAL andrasterio.The candidate should demonstrate the abilityto work across teams and manage multiple priorities and should bedetail-oriented and committed to adhering to timelines. In addition tothe duties and responsibilities below, the individual should be prepared, asand when necessary, to take on additional responsibilities.Job duties and accountabilities● Conduct analyses involving combination of multiplecomplex data layers, network analysis and detailed visualisation of theoutputs. These data layers will include information on public transit,socio-economics of population, people movement, road-safety, pollution,congestion, land-use, and survey data.● Support team in mobility planning, especiallydetermining the geographic specific demand for buses and IPT (intermediatepublic transport)
networks using alternative data sources and analysis.● Support developing predictive models/tools using ML andAI and thereby exposure to creating training datasets and deep learning models.● Assist the team in generating snackable insights andcompelling data visuals for the organisation's social media platforms. Selection CriteriaQualification● Bachelor's/Master's degree, with AI/ML● Experience and expertise in creating techno-economicmodels using excel and other statistical software packages.● Relevant experience in programming languages, such asPython, SQL, R, and/or others (e.g. application of programming languages foracademic projects, internships, personal projects).Workexperience● 0–2 years of experienceKeyskills● High proficiency in Python programming● Proficiency in SQL programming● Competency in Computer visioning/ AI/ ML, basicsof QGIS/ ArcGIS If you arepassionate about applying your programming skills to solve real-world mobilityproblems, we would like to speak to you.
