In this role, you will oversee the complete cargo revenue cycle—including rate governance, billing validation, revenue recognition, and audit management. You will collaborate closely with Operations, Finance, Commercial, and Customer Service teams to ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance in all revenue-related activities. The role demands strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proven ability to streamline revenue processes in a fast-paced logistics or aviation cargo environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cargo Revenue Management
Manage the full cycle of cargo revenue accounting, ensuring accurate capture of all chargeable services.
Validate revenue data from multiple operational systems to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Oversee revenue recognition processes in compliance with internal policies and industry standards.
Monitor revenue trends, deviations, and leakage points; recommend corrective actions to improve yield.
2. Billing & Bill Audit
Lead the end-to-end billing process, including rate application, invoice generation, and reconciliation.
Conduct detailed
bill audits
to verify correct application of rates, surcharges, weight charges, and accessorial fees.
Identify and resolve billing discrepancies, coordinating with internal teams and customers for timely closure.
Develop and implement billing quality controls, audit checklists, and standard operating procedures to reduce errors and disputes.
3. Revenue Assurance & Compliance
Build robust revenue assurance frameworks to prevent leakages and ensure accurate revenue capture.
Conduct periodic internal audits, root-cause analyses, and compliance checks across the revenue chain.
Ensure adherence to regulatory and tax requirements, including GST, customs rules, and international cargo standards.
Liaise with internal auditors, external auditors, and regulatory bodies during audits.
4. Data Analysis & Reporting
Generate and analyze revenue performance reports, billing accuracy dashboards, variance analyses, and audit findings.
Provide data-driven insights to management to support pricing strategy, tariff design, and operational improvements.
Maintain and enhance revenue databases, audit logs, and KPI trackers.
5. Process Improvement & Automation
Identify opportunities to automate billing, auditing, and reconciliation processes.
Collaborate with IT to enhance system accuracy, integration, and workflow efficiency.
Lead projects to digitize revenue documentation, rate cards, audit workflows, and exception management processes.
Qualifications & Experience
8–13 years of experience
in cargo revenue, cargo operations, billing, or revenue accounting (logistics, airlines, freight forwarding, or express cargo preferred).
Strong expertise in
bill audit
, tariff interpretation, and revenue assurance.
Hands-on experience with cargo management systems (e.g., Cargospot, Kale, IBS iCargo, or similar).
Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and manage stakeholders at multiple levels.
Excellent communication skills and proficiency in MS Excel/BI tools.
