Clinical Responsibilities

- Assess, diagnose, and manage patients presenting to the Emergency Department (ED).
- Perform rapid triage and prioritize patients based on clinical urgency.
- Stabilize critically ill and injured patients using Advanced Life Support (ALS) protocols.
- Manage medical, surgical, pediatric, obstetric, trauma, and poisoning emergencies within the scope of practice.
- Initiate appropriate investigations and interpret laboratory and imaging results.
- Perform emergency procedures, including:
- Endotracheal intubation
- Central venous catheterization
- Arterial line insertion
- Chest tube insertion
- Defibrillation and cardioversion
- Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS)
- Basic wound management and suturing
- Fracture immobilization and splinting
- Lumbar puncture (where credentialed)
- Determine the need for admission, discharge, observation, or referral
